I know Warren Central's total is correct. I would have said it was between Warren Central and Mason County for team of the decade until Mason County's championship last year put them over the top. They're the only multi-title team this decade, 6 regional titles, 13-4 record in the Sweet 16.

On the region championships, South Laurel won 3 straight 13th region titles, but won the state the year before on the back of consecutive 12th region titles as well. That has to be considered as well.

Mason Co has great stats.

Those are some good stats and it makes for an interesting debate. I belive Mason gets the nod however.

Is it safe to assume that Holmes was the best program the past 5 years of the decade?

 

Dicky Beal (former Holmes great) made a very good point in the KY Enquirer:

 

"This group went to three Final Fours in a row and two championship games and not many schools can say that."

 

They've also won region 4 of the past 5 years which is very rare in the 9th considering how tough the teams are.

On the region championships, South Laurel won 3 straight 13th region titles, but won the state the year before on the back of consecutive 12th region titles as well. That has to be considered as well.

They actually did not win the region in 2004. They won the 12th in 2005 (as well as state) and then the 13th from 2006-2008. All told, they won 4 straight. I'm not sure where you want me to put that in my stats?

Something else that could possibly be considered is # of wins period in the decade. With the information given concerning the Sweet 16 Mason is #1.

They actually did not win the region in 2004. They won the 12th in 2005 (as well as state) and then the 13th from 2006-2008. All told, they won 4 straight. I'm not sure where you want me to put that in my stats?
