10th region 08/09

Featured Replies

I saw this about the ninth and wondered peoples thoughts on the 10th next year. One thing is certain, It will be one of the toughest regions to play in as about any of 5 or 6 teams could win the region next year. What are some peoples preseason top tens?

I think GRC would be the favorite. Had a great season this year and returning 4 starters. Hatton. Rogers, Stenzel, and Williams. Freshman class is loaded. 2 started and the 3rd was first man off the bench for the varsity this year. They gained valuable true varsity experience. 3 of the Freshman are all around 6'6.

Scott I believe also returns alot of starters and could be a factor. Mason always has a good team, but will not be as dominating as this past year.

These are my top 3 teams....but by tourney time...I am sure that others may be included.

I like GRC and Mason in no particular order right now. GRC has a good young group and Mason doesn't rebuild they just reload.

Not sure what Campbell Co loses but I look forward to that district being extremely competitive again next season. Scott's juniors grew up a lot the last couple of weeks of the season and if they can continue to improve in the off season they could make a run come tourney time. Brossart has a good group of sophs and should continue to improve.

Not too sure about the other districts...

Mason Co. will be up there competing. Returning Middleton and Downing of the starting five. Also, have a good freshman class with the likes of Gilbert, Pawsat, Setty. Phil Barner who will be a junior next year is really athletic and will get more minutes and could be a good player. Mason will return Ryan Hamm who is very valuble to the team this year. There are a coulple young big boys that don't play too bad, Bluford, and B. Lang. Also, Mandela Rice can fill it up from beyond the arc.. Mason will be extremely young next year with I think 2 seniors..

Campbell Co. Will be good to.

Its pretty interesting that Scott beats Campbell by one at the buzzer after Campbell flies through the district undefeated and then loses to Clark at the buzzzer after being up nine in the fourth. That being said, I guess you have to earn some respect and win the big games. I thought Campbell had a lot of juniors, and If I am not mistaken the one junior they had was the best player by far in the district tournament.

Being a big 10 region supporter, I think Scott does have some nice talent too. I have seen all the teams play and know the players for all the teams coming back. Clark will be number one, and probably Mason second even thought they will be young.

Campbell beats Scott by 25+ the first time and then loses at the buzzer. I don't know what gives with that scenario. Anyone want to give a top five?

Wouldn't say by far but Nearl sp? was defintly impressive. They lose there back court I believe. Parks was a good floor general for them, If they can find someone to replace him they will be a title contention again.

I agree with you about the backcourt. The Occonnor kid could be a flat out stud if he continues to work, which I know he will.

He has to get a lot thicker, but he is worlds better now then when the season started. He will be a key to Scott's sucess for the next 2 years.

Looking forward to watching the 10th next year, should be wide open.

Since the usual suspects have been covered, we also need to remember that Brossart is returning a bunch of kids that got experience this year.
