Jake Rieger should be in there somewhere...

I agree as should Nikola Gilgorivic of Scott.

Ben Franzen of Campbell will be up there as well.

Knew I hadn't heard much of the Hamm kid on here this year. Yes Downing did impress me alot...plays hard and smart. GRC has 3 players I know of that also play football, Rogers, Williams and Pervis. You won't see the real GRC till mid-Jan. Does Mason have any players playing football? Hey I never count out Mason Co....you beat us when Miller was a sophomore and wasn't picked to win the region...Pendleton Co was, we knocked them off. This years tourney is wide open. Should be a great one.

What will Mason schedule look like this year?

This year's "three freshmen" from the Royals BB team all play football. Pawsat is in line to be the Royals' starting QB next year; was the backup last season. Gilbert is a kicker and may be a backup WR next year as well.

I'm sure there are others that I've missed.

Thanks papa. I am sure other schools in the 10th will have the same situtation too.

I would take these 3 freshmen over any other teams freshmen minus of course Stenzel any day. I am sure I will stir the pot on this one although I am not aiming to do that, just stating that these 3 freshmen for Mason County are up and down better basketball players and great talents on the basketball floor. Get these guys more PT this upcoming season and I think they answer the call.

1.Russ Middleton-Mason Co.

2.Robbie Stenzel-Clark Co.

3.Petey Albrecht-Campbell Co.

4.Brandon Rash-Montgomery Co.

5.Robert Hatton-Clark Co.

6.Patrick Nerl-Campbell Co.

7.Keith Downing-Mason Co.

8.Nick Hendrix- Montgomery Co.

9.Cory Rogers- Clark Co.

10. Ryan Hamm- Mason Co.

Here are their schools!

This is just a few of the players I have seen play. Have not seen Reiger or Gligoravic.:thumb:

I agree. And not to open up another can of worms, but if Mason had needed them to play more this year, they would have, they're that good. They just didn't have to. They definitely played a great level of competition in their freshman and JV seasons (and yes, before anyone starts in, I realize this isn't the same as playing against varsity competition).

McPapa said it, but I am not sure if Setty plays football. I could be wrong but I thought he didn't. I am not so sure about some of the young guys.

I look for their schedule to be extremely tough once again. Maybe not a Hawaii trip but I would say they will get some invites to some tournaments or showcases since they are the defending state champs. It should be a good one.

Treg did dress football last year, high number in the 80's, so I'd assume he's a receiver. I want to say he got in late in a couple of games.

I didn't know that. I can see why Buchanan would want him though. 6-5 with good hands? I would want him too.

I Disagree. You haven't seen much of GRC's freshman as of yet. The only two you got to see multiple minutes of was Stenzel and Rogers. You might of saw Pervis get a few minutes.

But they will be more than just this freshman class next year...just wait.

I have seen them enough to know that your freshmen class was forced to play minutes regardless of their talent level, which outside of Stenzel doesn't compare to Mason's freshmen class. Talent wise, no comparison to the three at Mason County.

Agree to disagree. But I wasn't even impressed with any of the three. I saw Pawsat play the most and yes he will be a solid role player but I didn't think he had the game to take over. In the region final Montgomery played something like a line and 3 chasers and left Pawsat wide open for a jumpshot and it wasn't even close. I haven't seen the others play a whole lot but from what I have seen I wasn't that impressed. Nothing to take away from these men, I'm sure they are solid players but didn't see anything extra special.

I think GRC's class is deeper as well. You only know of 3 of the freshman. IMO the next best freshman in regards to potential didn't even play except for garbage minutes last year is Jaylen Daniel. They had 5 dress on varsity and several more that probably could have and will turn into solid high school players.

Agree to disagree on this end as well. Mason freshmen Pawsat, Gilbert and Setty will be better basketball players over the next 3 years. I am not taking anything away from your freshmen class, just stating my thoughts.

I agree with GRC4LIFE, as you knew I would...:D You do not have a freshman that can compare to Robbie Stenzel. He has proved on the varsity court the last two years what he can do. We have not seen yet what your Freshman can do in starting roles on the varsity level. Will they be better players over the next 3 years, yes, you all have a great program and coaching staff. I just believe it will take some time and adjustments after losing all the quality players you did this year. But hey, our young guns exceeded my expectations this year.

We need to bring this thread back up in mid-Jan and see how our predictions play out. Will also be interesting to see some teams and players not mentioned that has surprised many.
