Mason Co--50th Season

Featured Replies

The 2009-2010 basketball season will be the 50th season in the history of Mason County High School. Mason's first season was 1960-1961 and the first game in the fieldhouse was 01/15/1965 against Ripley, Oh which Mason won 82 to 63. Folk lore has it that Coach Fred Hester scored the first two points in the Fieldhouse as a JV player for Ripley. The fieldhouse has produced many memories over the years. Thanks to Danny Weddle (WFTM) here are some numbers from the fifty years.

44 Winning Seasons

1090 Wins

9 Different Coaches

32 Winning Seasons

9 Thirty Win Seasons

32 District Champions

13 Regional Champions

2 State Championships

2 Mr Basketball's

105,503 Points Scored

All numbers are from the beginning of the season. Thanks for the memories!!!

Congratulations on a great 50 years!

I look forward to my first visit to the field house!

I've heard only great things about this basketball venue!

Yes I did! I even commented after I sat in my front row seats enjoying both the 9th and 10th region championships at Bank of Kentucky Arena. That was a great place to watch both the 9th and 10th regions compete in the same weekend.

I don't remember anybody knocking the field house other than it is a long drive from those in Campbell County and it may give Mason County a home court advantage.

That being said, I look forward to trips to Augusta, Deming, Paris to see some old school basketball facilities. But most of all I look forward to the excitement that the Mason county field house brings. Since I've moved to the 10th region, I've heard nothing but packed houses, passionate fans, warm hospitality and rave reviews. I'm sure it will be worth the drive but I'll miss those padded seats at the BOK.

Congratulations again on 50 storied years in Mason County!

I am just glad that they have never had a home court advantage during the district and regional tourneys.
