Like everyone else, the final score is a surprise. I thought with under 2:00 to go and the game well in hand, it would have been nice to see Brossart get some of the younger players some experience on the big stage of the Regional Tournament.

 

From where I was sitting the Lady Stangs played hard but just did not have the talent that Montgomery had. Again, not the score I was hoping for after a long ride.

 

Congrats to the Brossart seniors and a fine year.

The Lady Stangs played one game too many this season. They would have been best served to savor the Campbell County and Scott victories and close the book on the season on a positive note back at the Middle School.

 

The Lady Mustangs victimized for a 9-0 run to start the second quarter after trailing 15-9, sealed their one-done fate, failing the press test over and again while utilizing the sideline route, resulting in numerous easy Lady Indians baskets, while the Brossart 1-1-1-1-1 press yeilded little fruit. We did a better job getting the ball to the middle of the floor in the second half, but by then the game was lost. Non-existant weakside help allowed the tribe to take advantage of their superior height, scoring a multitude of lob-pass easy buckets to put the game on ice.

 

Senior Emily Sanker tried her best to work her take-the-game-over magic for a third straight game, but the clock had struck midnight against the bigger, tougher Lady Indians.

 

The Lady Indians 15-13 record coming into tonight's game was very deceiving, and anyone surprised by the final score here simply didn't do their homework. The tribe played Louisville Mercy to a one point loss; fell to Highlands 57-43; lost to the "A" State Champs, NCC, by 11 56-45; and battled Lexington Catholic to a 50-39 lost decision. Our gals were blown out by NCC, Highlands, and Boone County, the three highest profile teams on our schedule.

 

Congratulations to seniors Emily Sanker, Anna Dischar, Emily Schubert, Hannah Uthe, and Jenna Bezold who gave it their best shot and will always remember the good times had while playing high school basketball.

 

Expect to see a rematch of the 40th District Tournament (Clark vs Montgomery County) in the 10th Region Finals. They are simply the best two teams in a very ho-hum region this year.

I think he wanted to give his seniors one last hurrah in their final high school game, subbing them out individually at about the minute mark.

Looks like the Indians are out for a 6th straight trip to Diddle.

A lot of players were overlooked and if you ask me several on the list shouldn't have been there.

Yes alot of players from Montgomery Co were overlooked!!
