Holmes length at the guard position is what really killed Mason tonight. Mason needs to find someone who can score on a consistent basis. Pittman was too much for Setty to handle.

 

Mason made a little run at the end of the game to cut the lead to 3 points, as it appeared the Holmes players were showing some fatigue. Holmes needs to develop more of a bench if they plan to make another run at a state championship.

A very boring performance from one of the state's bestHolmes). Better game from the JV game of the night- Deming 100 Menifee County 92. Very disapointed in the play of the Setty kid after all the praise that was given him for his summer play. Demling and others said he was the best they saw in some of the camps. But just like in last years Clark County regional game, he is just invisible against good competition. Really thought he would be putting up 30+ a night this year against anyone in the state. On the flip side Lang and Gilbert, two gritty little guards who don't quit. Those two will be instrumental in some Mason County wins this year before the year is over

I would like to send a shout out to the radio announcer that called the Mason Co. vs Holmes game tonight. I don't know his name or if he does all the games but he is a pleasure to listen to. There are a lot of so called professional announcers that could take a lesson from him. He does as good a broadcast as I have ever heard at the high school level.

Excellent announcer.

Congrats to Holmes,They won this game at the free throw line as they hit 20-25,Nice job..Mason got off to a horrible start shooting which put them behind early by 14(21%) in the 1st half,But some of that was Holmes long arms as it bothered them..Overall a good game with some intense defense on both sides as both teams knew they was in a game when this was over..I was pleasantly surprised Mason out rebounded the much bigger and longer Bulldogs 35-33 and 16-8 offensive..Masons pressure seem to bother the Dogs some in the 2nd half also as they turned over the Dogs some..But in the end Holmes hit the free throws to hold on and win a tight one,Should see improvement from both of these teams as they start to get there players back from injury and gel for the Postseason runs...

They don't get any better. Mason County lucky to have such a talent. I would rather listen to him over Reds or UK announcers.

Holmes seems to always give whatever is needed to win. Last year was not much different but they have so much talent to work with and a player recooping who will only add to their advantage.

Tyler Black is going to be a stud, he is a solid player.

 

Setty struggled but what do you expect with a 6'7 guy with a 7'0 wing span is guarding you. Gilbert is excellcent with the basketball a great PG. Bluford played well I would have liked to see Mason Co keep him on Pitman and not Setty.

 

One thing I noticed Holmes coach never seems to get off the bench that much, he did maybe 3 or 4 times.

Not many people in the state do this, Setty won't be playing the likes of Holmes every night look for him to bounce back.:thumb:
