Pittman and Rico have the ability to go for 20 and 10 every night. Its good to see Pittman playing hard, hopefully that suspension woke him up.

The question I ask is, Where were the Mason County Fans? Yes, there were a good amount of people there, but I didn't feel like there was much support. When it got close there in the 3rd quarter, hardly anyone got on his or her feet to cheer them on when there were crucial possessions. Fans don't realize how much a crowd can get a player's adrenaline going and HELP! The crowd could have certainly helped when the game got close. This, I thought was disappointing.

I was extremely pleased with the way the Royals clawed back after getting behind 21-6. Got back to 30-31 and had several opportunities to take the lead but Holmes' D stepped up when it needed to. Mason County is going to be tough (and they're not chopped liver right now) when they get back to full strength.

 

Bottom line - Holmes' defense bothered Mason County, held the Royals to 30% from the field; and the Bulldogs hit their free throws.

 

Very entertaining game - particularly for those of us who value defense.:thumb:

I was impressed with both Gilbert and J. Lang. Once those two started moving on offense and attacking, things really opened up for them.

 

Gilbert has a pretty stroke from outside. He missed his first few shots, but once he got going, man was he on fire from outside.

 

As far as Setty, I think it has more to do with him not liking physical play. He was trying to push Pittman around all night down low and Pittman was just smiling and laughing. Setty has to realize when you're complaining to the refs the whole night, you aren't going to get very many calls. I was very disappointed with his play. Not sure how many rebounds he had, but for a 6'8 kid, I would have expected him to crash the boards a little harder and be much stronger than he showed. Black and the other Lang both rebounded very well despite being undersized, compared to Holmes front court.

 

Mason is a very good team with or without Pawsatt and Harris. There aren't too many teams that's going to beat that bunch when they get healthy.

Holmes didn't block off of the boards at all. I guess they just depend on their size to rebound with out blockibg out. Tyler Black got a lot of his points on putbacks not be at all blocked off. The guards for Mason play hard and kept Mason in the game. I think home court is still an advantage.:ylsuper:

Congrats to Holmes,They won this game at the free throw line as they hit 20-25,Nice job..Mason got off to a horrible start shooting which put them behind early by 14(21%) in the 1st half,But some of that was Holmes long arms as it bothered them..Overall a good game with some intense defense on both sides as both teams knew they was in a game when this was over..I was pleasantly surprised Mason out rebounded the much bigger and longer Bulldogs 35-33 and 16-8 offensive..Masons pressure seem to bother the Dogs some in the 2nd half also as they turned over the Dogs some..But in the end Holmes hit the free throws to hold on and win a tight one,Should see improvement from both of these teams as they start to get there players back from injury and gel for the Postseason runs...

 

Who does Holmes have injured? Thought they had their full allotment of players. Did Harris play much varsity last season for Mason County? Is he expected to really help much when he gets back? Can't recall him contributing much last season. Thanks.

He wasn't required to contribute as much last year as he will be this year,But hes strong as an ox and maybe one of fastest player in the region..Hes a pure athlete and will help a lot on Defense and rebounding..

Your exactly right, as far as fans outside Mason County licking their chops to get back to the Fieldhouse. Papa, I can remember in the 80's and briefly in the late 70's the success the other teams around the region had by winning regional crowns simply because they were the better teams whether Mason was the opponent or not. I find this cry hilarious, I also find out more and more about who are fans and who are not. Research will show you that Masons first regional crown was 81. They won 4 times in the 80's and before that there were zero regional titles. Simply amazing how the best team always wins:popcorn:
