  1. I think the kids and coaches are out to prove that they can and will compete at any level. Not saying they will win 5A but I really believe they will be there in the end with a chance. They are a very solid football team. They won't have the burners that they had last year. But they will get the job done with solid line play and an outstanding defense.
  2. Why is it that everyone is taking shots at Jaggers? Is it me or in reading the email did Cobb not agree to play? I believe alot of coaches set their schedule the very same way. Communicate via the email with the opposing coaches and once a coach agrees, you pass it on the the AD's/Principals to finalize the paperwork. Why is everyone giving Cobb a pass when there is proof that he said lets play and then decided against it. It appears to me that Mercer & Jaggers are taking unnecassary attacks for taking a man at his word. In the coaching industry there are alot of games scheduled on a handshake and later put on paper. Maybe it is a little of the anti-Mercer venom from last season?
  3. I believe those schools were compensated. Due to a breech of contract. Is it $2500?
  4. AMEN! When coaches agree to play the contract is expected. Other wise there would be 3-4 contracts pending per week and in the coaching ranks a coaches name would quickly become blimished. In my years in HS sports this is the first time I have heard of a football coach verbally agreeing to a date and home/home contract via e-mail and a coach backing out...more less without calling to say...I changed my mind...granted he had bigger issues going on. We are supposed to be turning boys to men and I (for some reason I'm in the minority) believe the somerset coach is 100% in the wrong. It has nothing to do with hand spitting and paper work...it is about character. Scheduling begins in Oct./Nov. and a lot, if not most, of the schools are set by the state championships/clinics etc.
  5. My sources tell me the SHS HC(?) agreed to play Mercer thinking he was on his way out...then renigged on HCHS and last Mercer. Not cool in early July!
  6. Seems pretty quiet around Mercer. Anyone have any thoughts? Are they a contender?
  7. Jackson has potential to be a great coach, but has not shocked the state yet. Pardue has a few rings in the closet and a finals appearence as a HC. If I were judging purely on resumes...I have to go with Pardue...JMO. Interesting! If you were the AD at these schools, would you be scrambling to put together a list?
  8. What giantkiller says is correct. Weeks 1-11 the gate stays with the home team...unless there is an agreement (ex. Mayfield - Graves). In the play offs, the gates is split after the expenses are factored in.
  9. I attended Iroquois and have turned out okay. It was far from great 15 years ago. If you and your child value education, an education they will get...no matter the school!
  10. You mean to tell me that you do not think a 17-18 yr old kid should not make an educational/athletic decision that he feels is BEST for him. I thought I've read on other threads that you were all for high school kids and parents getting to chose the HS they attend...even if they live in another state or 2-3 counties away? How is this any different.
  11. I do believe I have them numbered? I started with the #11 and finished with the best job...IMO.
  12. 11.Bardstown-one of the highest paid districts in the state..new tough district 10. St. X 9. Trinity 8. Male 7. Corbin 6. Belfrey 5. Highlands 4. Boyle County 3. Mayfield 2. Bowling Green 1. Danville
  13. Fact: Your fact is wrong! In 2006 there was no "5-A" in the state of KY! Fact: Many teams play against teams with a higher enrollment. Is is "fair"? I understand and agree it is an advantage...I say again...it is a distinct and clear advantage.
  14.             me a river! The same basic scenerio (one school having a larger enrollment than the other) occurs in every class. Oh....Congrats to the Russell players, coaches, and parents for having another grand season in 06!
  15. Why would Atwell leave? He would probably be named the O-coordinator and would have a chance to learn and call some plays on a Friday night. That would be best for his career.
  16. The QB throwing it up for grabs with 1-2-3 defenders in the neighborhood. I agree...lack of execution on ST and abandonment of the ground game were costly...it also looked like Mercer had figured things out (as did RHS vs MC O). As a D guy..it was a GREAT game! Well worth the price of admission.
  17. I noticed some sweatshirts at the Championship game that said state champions. But in looking closer they were Mercer County Band Sweatshirts, who I guess won band state. But I had the same thoughts when I seen the sweatshirts.
  18. I will say this...Mercer has an advantage (in numbers). I would not call it "unfair." Russell has probably had this same advantage (in numbers) in a few contests this season. In August, I would not have bet $1 on the Mercer team making it to the state championship game, because of the meshing of the 2 programs. That had to be tough. 2 bitter rivals being told over night that they would be playing together? Wow! Just like the movie! I am surprised they made it and I have seen 3 Titan games this season. They are amazing. My hat is tipped to the COACHES, ADMINISTRATION, COMMUNITY, PARENTS, and most of all the young TITAN MEN! There is NO team in the state of KY that has played with so much adversity this season. I'd say this team is the #3 most hated team in the state. If my son had to play against them, I'd cry foul as well...well maybe not, but I wouldn't like it.
  19. I would plan on a 2:45-3 hour drive from Owensboro to Mercer. I do some hunting down that way. It's a haul.
  20. I would think that a former St. X Coach would have more professionalism than to say "I want JH again!" Get real. NC will struggle with out Devon Boone.
  21. If you have injuries, it's one thing. If the coach "rested" his team because he felt he was playing weak competition, he is not a very smart coach. Football players need consistancy and game speed conditioning. If these players get out of sink...look out vs Mercer, they'll hang 60+ on ya in a minute.
