I haven't seen one. Just curious as to who they open with next season. I know they lost a ton of seniors but there are players ready to step in.

I don't know if they have completed the schedule yet. I heard they could have completed it by scheduling Lexington Catholic, but they declined to play Catholic in week 11. So, Catholic will host Owensboro Apollo in week 10 instead.

You heard one side. I heard Mercer was trying to get Apollo week 2 so they could have week 11 as their open date but Apollo decided to play Lex Cath instead.Now Apollo has week 2 open.

I believe these schools are scheduled but do not know the week they play.

Looks like it will be a challenging slate for the Titans, how many returnees?

 

OFFENSE

 

O-line - lose Blackburn - returns 4 of 5 plus one that rotated in for the deperting senior - should be a strength.

 

Tightend - lose Lewis and Wofford - return 2 that had quality minutes - will have to work hard to fill those shoes

 

Backfield - lose Jackson, Ford, Walker - return Griffith and have a bunch of speedy backs to go with him. The JVs put a buch of points on the competition this year. They have huge shoes to fill but Mercer will still be very tough to stop.

 

Quarterback - Lose Morgan - Return Short - Short got a lot of quality minutes this year because of one sided games. Short is probably a better pure athlete than Morgan but Mercer will miss the leadership and poise of of their Senior QB. 25-2 as a starter is hard to argue with.

 

Receiver - This years motto was "Receivers...we don't need no stinking receivers." Mercer has kids who can run and catch.

 

 

DEFENSE

 

D-Line - Lose Blackburn, Brooks & Materson - Return Harris, Delahousay, Patton. - Losing some pretty good talent, but should be very solid.

 

Linebacker - Lose Lewis - Return Reed, Buster, & Horn. Lewis led the team in tackles, Buster and Reed were 2 and 3 repectively. They will miss Lewis' leadership, but I think someone will step up. This crew will be very good.

 

DBs - Lose Arnold, Edwards, Smith, and Bee. Ouch!!!! I beleive these four combined fo 24 of Mercer 30 int's. Mercer has some good athletes to put in there, but this is probably the biggest trouble spot for the Titans.

Look for the titans to peak toward the end. They will undoubtedly strugle early as the inexperience shows but the inexperience is VERY talented and should continue to improve thoughout the year. Looks like a solid program where talent graduates and new people step right in to keep things going.

Heard Junior Ethan Ashford was playing football next year. He could be a threat to Short at the QB position.

They won't have anyone to match Jackson, his speed is freaky. However the overall team speed will be outstanding. There will be few teams that will be faster.

I bet it will be tougher to go 15-0 with that schedule

Since they were the only team in the state to go 15-0 in 2006,I give them alot of credit.I guess they'll put an asterik next to Mercer's state title when they put one next to all the private schools who have won a State Title or the other public schools who moved up a class within a year or two of winning a Title.An example would be Boyle County and Bardstown.
