I like the venue, but from a fan experience leaves a whole lot to be desired. They could sell some t-shirts, programs, and just do a little more to enhance the fan experience. How many times can you show the Napoleon Dynamite dance bit? With the money that is guaranteed no way they turn it down playing at the BOK.

It was the wrong guy with whom the foul was charged. There was only one kid on the floor and all three didn't know the correct one. My question is to what extent does the official scorer have in regards to helping the official there? The over and back call that one mentioned, I believe was when BC broke pressure and got to the half court he threw it to a guy standing in the backcourt.. Second quarter I believe. Boone deserved to win the game.

It was a terrible call, and all three missed it, Englemon took the charge but was given to Gray.. On the other one they called Gray for a foul and announced it over the PA and it was supposed to be on 25. They corrected it. There was a 3rd one in which Hayes went flying by and missed the guy and 25 fouled the kid and they gave it to Hayes. However, it wasn't the officiating that won this game. Sure Holmes would have had to like to have had Gray play more in the second quarter, but it was still a laborious process for the Dogs. With that being said, Gray is by far the best penetrator and he was really the only one that can really drive it in traffic, and they didn't get that in the second quarter. Boone's guard were tremendous. They did a nice job of handling the ball, but even more important they hit open shots. When Holmes was forced to go man, they were able to feed the post for buckets. Holmes thrives on the offensive glass and they didn't get many second chance opportunities tonight. There was a huge play in the early 4th I believe were Rice had a point blank layup opportunity and missed it and the subsequent putback. Boone goes the other way and hits a 3. Rice makes that shot they are down 2. He misses and Boone stretches it to 7. Boone shot it well enough and got second chance opportunities, and Holmes was not able to get out in transition to beat them down the floor. Boone was the better team tonight, and will be interesting to see if their guards can continue to play well the rest of the regional. No reason for Holmes to hang their head tonight. A lot of youth on the floor, particular the Palmer kid who played really well, and that bodes well for the future. Now they will get a whole summer to implement Booher's system and move on to bigger and better things. Best of Luck to Boone.

I don't think the kid will have a leg to stand on in order to be eligible. From everything I have been told there are a lot of issues to be worked out. In regards to football, he has size but does not possess the needed speed to play WR at a high D1 level. I only saw a few games last year but it seems like all he runs are fades.

Pretty balanced bracket. There really are no crib shots for anyone other than probably NCC. But lest we forget, Villa about took down a heavily favored St. Henry a few years back in the first round. St. Henry has improved but NCC should be able to take care of business. Not sure who I like in these games. I still think Dixie should be the favorite because they probably have the best scoring starting five of anyone in the field. I really don't think previous matchups during the season play any real role especially being played at the BOK. Highlands could play the role of a spoiler, because they are practically back to full strength and they have the wily vet on the sideline in Mike Flynn. I doubt the lower bowl fills up for any of these games with maybe the exception of the finals. It is a shame but the region is making more money from these games whether or not it is full, than they would be at a high school venue.

Injuries have taken a toll on SK this year. Steiner is a terrific coach and the future looks pretty solid. How about giving WV some credit, they are a pretty solid team.

I agree Under The Lights. From all I can gather this kid would not be eligible at Dixie or anywhere else, other than Holmes. Honestly, I would rather hear more about Terry Liggin. I have heard he is African-American and was curious to know some details about him. How long has he been a head coach, and where has he been other than his playing career?

I am not sure that their talent pool is deep and unequaled. They have a few kids who have really blossomed this year, but other than that they really don't possess great talent in depth. They have a couple of sophomores who have played adequately and are gaining valuable experience. They will have more athletes than most NKY schools, but there is a huge difference between being athletic and being skilled. The big thing for Holmes is to start consistently bringing depth through the program. In high school, you may be able to get away with one good player from each class, but for Holmes they need to consistently bring that depth through. Far too often, especially over the last couple of years, promising talent has failed to progress from their middle school to the high school. I believe they lost two of their better kids from their 8th grade team last year to Holy Cross and that team of freshman barely fielded enough players at the finish line this year. The potential is there which means they haven't done anything yet. Again, the job Coach Booher has done this year has been terrific. They have essentially followed "Next Man In" theory. A few coaches could be right in the mix for COY. I think Tim Sullivan has done a really good job. Of course Grant Brannen and Ken Chevelier are others.

Just think how good Timmy Knipp would be if he played hard all of the time. The kid has talent, but has he been pushed to be great?

Bullit East is a very good team with a sophomore, Derek Willis, who is about to blow up as one of the best juniors in the state as well as garnering national attention. Purdue is really interested in the kid.

The ref is Jim or Rob Lohr and he is simply not very good. To me this is a situation where the referee sees contact and assumed that it had to be a foul, more or less anticipating that there was going to be a foul. Just an awful awful call.

I thought Holmes played really well tonight. I was very surprised to see CCH play man to man. They played it for about 90% of the game. I thought Coston gave Holmes a big lift in the first quarter, and Gray and Hayes carried them. The problem for Cov. Cath. was handling pressure. In the second quarter alone I think they turned it over on at least 3-4 straight possessions. They were not steals but more of just throwing the ball out of bounds. Holmes does crash the glass, and CCH was leaking 32 out at times. Gray in particular could not be contained and once he got into the paint, he would draw help which would leave someone for cleanup. I though Knox had a very good game. CCH had some success with a hi-lo look with Baker in the high post and Thelen on the block, but they could not sustain it. CCh doesn't shoot it very well from the perimeter and Holmes was content to let certain players shoot it. High energy game...both teams scrapped. Again, I can't say enough what a job Coach Booher and his staff have done with this group. Injuries and defections and someone is there to step up. No Peterson...welcome to the show Chris Englemon. Englemon played pretty well for a kid with hardly any experience. Holmes has a pretty solid underclassman core with Knox, Rice, Palmer, Coston, and Englemon. The last three all soph's.

Fangman was making all kinds of shots, a little rocker step and fire. Pulling up in transition, and was playing with confidence. #4 was solid in the post as well. I think once Holmes went man it turned the tide, in the 4th quarter. I believe Holmes was 12-26 or 13-26 on three pointers tonight. Got to give Coach Booher a boatload of credit for the job he has down this year. He has taken a team with hardly any varsity experience, especially when Mayfield went down, even though Hayes played some last year, and has survived some attrition on the team, and has pretty much gotten everything out of this group he can. Give credit to Beechwood, they hung tough, and Coach Shumate and his staff should be congratulated.

Due to sickness and injury, the Bulldogs have rescheduled their game with the Bruins for next Thursday.

Coach Carr had the Eagles focused tonight and Kellen Smith played a whale of a game. Difference in this game was beyond the 19'9 stripe and I think the Eagles hit close to 8 three pointers and I can't recall maybe but one for the Colonels.

Final...

I would not even advertise or link that broadcast. The game played in like 3 minutes. I hate to be critical of volunteer work and services, but that link should be pulled. Surprising margin, but you have this type of game every now and then, and I would think Scott will be in the thick of things in the 10th. Nice confidence builder for the Bulldogs who have been laboring here lately, trying to find a flow since they lost Pierre Mayfield. I think the Bulldogs have Dixie this week, don't they?

Breeden has the Creekers defending like crazy. Darkhorse in the that region.

Dixie is the favorite to win the region, in my opinion. Not really going out on a limb. I can only see NCC as being a real threat. Cov Cath is just missing something and I think the loss of Mayfield really hurts Holmes.

The Eagles are in a nice groove right now.
