I would disagree with that. Their talent level is not as deep as some would have you believe. Good talent. Not great talent.

Cooper Downs was nothing short of spectacular this evening. One of the best point guard performances of the year and I've seen a lot of them. He was truly a quarterback tonight and put his team on his back. He handled Holmes tremendous pressure, his penetration was unstoppable and he got the ball to his teammates when they were open. He also found time to put one of Rondo's fake behind the back pass drives to the basket in tonight. If this kid plays Saturday like he did tonight, Boone will be playing on Sunday, he was that good. Kudos to young Mr. Downs, you played your tail off tonight.

Question and I honestly don't have the answer: When was the last time a CovCath and a Cov Holmes team lost in the first round of the Ninth Region in the same year?

 

Two outstanding games tonight at the BOKC and while the lower bowl wasn't full, their was a very nice crowd attending!

Kudos also goes to Coach McQueary. Great game plan and great using your bigs to help handle the press. Reminded me of Ryle a few years back when they used Doellman to bring the ball up against the press. Outstanding job Coach, you should be mentioned in the COY discussions heavily.

Downs was the difference. I've seen all 4 games and he played the best game thus far. When you can handle Holmes pressure, penetrate and dish, Holmes cannot stop the big guys. The Rebels shot extremely well inside and out. The Gray 2nd foul which wasn't on him but Engleman hurt the 'Dawgs, but I don't think it mattered. Holmes played hard, didn't shoot as well as normal, except Palmer (he kept it close until the end), and missed 9 free throws. Bottom line, BC was the better team tonight and have looked the best thus far. It still is a tossup, though.

I thought the BC turnout was disappointing. Not even their pep band. Dixie, Highlands, and Holmes had good crowds.
