I would disagree with that. Their talent level is not as deep as some would have you believe. Good talent. Not great talent.

 

They also have to adjust to a new coach and coaching style. I have no doubt they will be back very soon!

Which could have killed any rhythm that Gray could have gotten into...I'm sorry but only one player is laying on the ground on a blocking call and in this instance it was Englemon, How do you not know which guy got ran over? Also a terrible non call on a back court violation on Boone, 2 out of the 3 officials were solid, the other one not so much...

Agreed, not even a student section. Sad.

 

There were plenty of Boone students in attendance sitting behind the bench...they didn't make a scene but they were there.

Describe the play.

Taking nothing away from Boone because they played great and was steady from the line sealing the deal. Gray sitting out long for Holmes is big. He is a difference maker for sure.

I just don't think run, run and run some more will do anything in this region. I may be wrong and the talent isn't nearly the same but when the districts and regionals start not a lot of teams are going to try to run with Holmes. Henley figured it out at some point and slowed it down. Good guards that aren't afraid of pressure will beat a press.

Booher's run, run , run style will win, they just had no inside presence offensively or defensively this year. It's coming, though.

Heard chatter about officiating. Did it make a difference?

 

Not a factor, but it was absolutely terrible...horrible!!!! Refs could not even come up with the correct number of the player who made the foul...three times in one game. There is no excuse for this horrible officating especially during a regional game.

You must have watched a different game than i did. I did not think for one minute that the officiating had any impact on this game. Of course there's going to be questionable calls, there is in every game at every level. It's the nature of the game. It's easy to call a game sitting on your but with no other responsibilities. For the guy who posted earlier about there should have been a backcourt violation that wasn't called. You're wrong because the ball and both feet did no cross over into the front court therfore the player was never established in the front court.

The Gray miscall did have an impact. You take their leading scorer out of the game. Now this wasn't a bad call, it was he was charged with a foul that another player committed. Again, BC played better and deserved to win the game.

It was a terrible call, and all three missed it, Englemon took the charge but was given to Gray.. On the other one they called Gray for a foul and announced it over the PA and it was supposed to be on 25. They corrected it. There was a 3rd one in which Hayes went flying by and missed the guy and 25 fouled the kid and they gave it to Hayes.

 

However, it wasn't the officiating that won this game. Sure Holmes would have had to like to have had Gray play more in the second quarter, but it was still a laborious process for the Dogs. With that being said, Gray is by far the best penetrator and he was really the only one that can really drive it in traffic, and they didn't get that in the second quarter.

 

Boone's guard were tremendous. They did a nice job of handling the ball, but even more important they hit open shots. When Holmes was forced to go man, they were able to feed the post for buckets.

Holmes thrives on the offensive glass and they didn't get many second chance opportunities tonight.

There was a huge play in the early 4th I believe were Rice had a point blank layup opportunity and missed it and the subsequent putback. Boone goes the other way and hits a 3. Rice makes that shot they are down 2. He misses and Boone stretches it to 7.

 

Boone shot it well enough and got second chance opportunities, and Holmes was not able to get out in transition to beat them down the floor.

 

Boone was the better team tonight, and will be interesting to see if their guards can continue to play well the rest of the regional.

 

No reason for Holmes to hang their head tonight. A lot of youth on the floor, particular the Palmer kid who played really well, and that bodes well for the future. Now they will get a whole summer to implement Booher's system and move on to bigger and better things.

Official book corrected the ref on two of the calls, one was the one mentioned that was on 25, and the ref changed it to 25 after it was brought to his attention, the other time he called a foul on 5, and there was no #5 on the court, he changed it to #15, believe that was his 4th foul by that time. Too much traffic on the 2nd foul they called on #15, table didn't see who it was.

 

Back court was not established, as mentioned above, all three were not over the 1/2 court mark, only one foot and the ball when Boone threw it backwards.

Look at my post...I said it was not a factor...but these officials were horrible...period.
