As a Boone supporter it was a walk! Nice move but a walk.

 

Downs had a great night a little shakey early with some early turnovers but he did handle the pressure well. I was more impressed with Stanleys play. He made big shots when they needed them and was steady all night.

 

Agreed on all points. It was Stanley that I remembered more so than Downs. I honestly didn't realize Downs did so well until after the game.

I thought both the Boone guards played well. Holmes collapsed on the inside and dared them to make open shots in the lane, and they did. Both stepped up to the challenge. I think Holmes would have been better off not leaving wide open jump shots in the lane and drives.

Not a Downs fan? or just a bigger fan of Stanley? No dog in the fight, just thought this was an interesting post.

 

Good questions but really no feelings on eithier side. I don't think Stanley gets enough credit for the role he plays. He plays very solid and rarely turns the ball over (at least in the games i have seen) He also was the second leading scorer last night. No doubt Downs played a great game but Stanley did as well.

Once again, Greg McQueary shows why he is one of the best coaches in the 9th Region. Here he is in the Final 4 once again. This guy is a great game planner imo, and his players play their tails off for him. Good luck to all of the teams tomorrow night.

Couldn't agree more. It is very frustrating to see some Boone fans bash the coach. He has done wonders at Boone and they will be a mainstay at the top of the 9th region as long as he is the coach there.

The complain can't be about the number of points they score.

It can't be that they do not beat the top teams.

It can't be that he favors his son.

It can't be that he doesn't advance in the region tourney.

 

I think we're down to the recently-used "not enough subs play" complaint.

Sorry but I have got to step in here. First and foremost I went to this game and the refs were HORRIBLE both ways. They would blow touch fouls and one point and then let both teams play for stretchs. Boone did have a good game plan, and it was apparent that they exploided the inside presence (or lack there of) of Holmes. On the flip side, I will give my congrats to Boone for winning this game, but they didn't impress me at all. I am a 16th region fan and I have seen at least 3 or 4 teams that would not only beat their tails, but would SPANK them. Maxpreps currently has Boone at 34th in the state and Rowan Co. at 35th. Let me just be the first to tell you folks that Rowan would DRILL Boone Co. by at least 20 points. If anyone got to see them beat Lewis County last night, they would understand. The point guard for Boone didn't impress me at all. The only thing he had going for him was his speed. Townsend, Cross, Delaney, Smith, and Burns from the 16th are all better than this kid!!! Boone's post are solid when they catch it inside of 2 feet, but they couldn't bang with even Riley from the 16th. I look to Dixie beating them in the next round as after looking at their schedule, they have actually beat someone outside of the 9th (Paul Blazer)!

Couldn't agree more...Rowan Co. would lay the wood to Boone, Holmes could have beat them had they laid back and stopped pressing it killed them...I have never seen a team like Boone they get probably 85 percent of their baskets from within 5 feet...Not to complain about the refs but Boone Co's guards reach in a whole lot and it's not called very often...
