I've also heard that none other than UK's Joker Phillips encouraged the North Carolina coach to apply for the Holmes' head coaching position.

SEC Head College coach getting involved in the hirings of High School Coaches....I mean can you imagine Nick Saban or someone else calling up Holmes or the coach about this job????? Just not an every day occurence. Maybe knowing the guys experience and that kind of thing will make it all make more sense.

College coaches are always making calls for other coaches.

 

I also doubt Ron Madrick and the school board gave it a rubber stamp just because Joker likes the guy. I say we give them more credit than that.
