Hey Cleats - Clarify some thing for me, I don't have time to go check the KHSAA website. By saying "Out of Tournament" are you saying these teams are no longer in the State Championship race?

District 25 Championship The St. X Tigers won the 25th district tournament championship last night by defeating Male High School 11-4 at Tiger Park in front of a standing room only crowd. The Tigers put their foot on the Bulldogs throat by exploding for 4 runs in the top of the 1st inning and never let'em up. Ben Zoeller's ground rule double BOMB with bases loaded was followed by a 2 run single from Justin Amlung to get things started. St. X tacked on two more runs in the 3rd then Male managed to cut it to 6-4 in the bottom of the 4th. Relief pitcher, Cory Boughey, came in after the 4 and two thirds innings and shutdown the Bulldogs bats. Both Eric Brewer and Damon McCormick had triples, along with a Brian Erie's late game double and Ben Zoeller's second double of the night put the game away for good. The Tigers scored 11 runs on 13 hits. The 7th Region tournament is the next stop for the Tigers. It begins Monday, May 28th at the UofL Cardinal's - Jim Patterson Field. We had the opposite situation happen in one of our games a few weeks ago. Our third baseman had one foot in fair territory and one foot in foul territory and fielded a chopped ball clearly in fair territory and put the batter out at first base. The Home plate umpire ruled it a foul ball because the third baseman was in foul territory when he touched the ball and the batter was allowed to return home to complete his at bat. According to the definition of a "Foul Ball" this is a bad interpretation also. A FOUL BALL is a batted ball that settles on foul territory between home and first base, or between home and third base, or that bounds past first or third base on or over foul territory, or that first falls on foul territory beyond first or third base, or that, while on or over foul territory, touches the person of an umpire or player, or any object foreign to the natural ground. A foul fly shall be judged according to the relative position of the ball and the foul line, including the foul pole, and not as to whether the infielder is on foul or fair territory at the time he touches the ball. Rule 2.00 (Foul Ball) Comment: A batted ball not touched by a fielder, which hits the pitcher’s rubber and rebounds into foul territory, between home and first, or between home and third base is a foul ball. I realize you can't know every nuance of the rules but this is pretty basic stuff.

The St. X Tigers improved to 23 and 9 last night by defeating the Manual Crimsons 11 to 3 in the first round of district play. This sets up a fantastic rematch tonight against long time rival Male High School at 6 pm @ St. X. Damon McCormick while not pitching a flawless game, did quit well. He only gave up 6 hits in 6 innings. Cory Boughy with the help of his defense came in and closed the game in the 7th mowing down their number 1, 2 & 3 batters to end the game. A clutch hit by Ryan Cline with bases loaded began the dominate 4th inning when the flood gates opened and allowed 6 runs. Ben Zoeller, who was 0 for 1 on the night and scored 3 runs, drew his 2nd walk of the night with bases loaded to add an RBI for the Tigers. An insurance run added by Kevin Brinkman in the top of the 7th inning closed out the scoring for St. X. :thumb: Way to go TIGERS! :thumb:

The St. X Tigers closed out their regular season in a great way last Friday night by defeating Christian Academy 2-0 on Senior Night at TIGER PARK. Pitchers Damon McCormick (Sr.), Cory Boughey (Sr.) and Justin Amlung (Jr.) combined to pitch a no hitter as the Tigers closed their season with a win and an impressive first year record of 22-9 for Head Coach John Jefferson. Kal Scheler scored on a Nick Dewees SAC FLY in the 1st and Damon McCormick scored on Ben Zoeller's single in the 5th to lead the Tigers to victory. Now the true test of the season has arrived, Districts start this week and the Run for a State Championship in Lexington, KY at Applebee's Park. :cry: Just got the word that both the Freshman and Varsity games at PRP have been cancelled. :cry: Field conditions not conducive to playing baseball. I thought PRP had a full infield tarp. Sounds like what we have here is a failure to execute.

It's JMO, but I think there is a need to revisit Louisville St. X at the No. 29 position. The St. X Tigers: -are currently 19 and 8; -have 3 of their 8 losses to out of state teams; -are the only in state team to beat your #1 team, Lexington Catholic, 5 - 4; (Foot Note: This game was at Lex. Cath.); -beat your #15, Trinity, 2 - 0; -run ruled your #17, Louisville Butler in 6, 11 - 1; -are Number 11 in the KHSBCA Poll; -And since sweeping 3 games in the LCIT this past weekend, they are now 4 and 0 against Lexington teams. Like I said it's JMO and I'll admit it - I'm prejudice. :thumb: GO TIGERS! :thumb:

Did it go a full 7 innings or was it over in less?

St. X defeated Butler 11-1 last night at Tiger Park. When the Bears scored quickly in the top of the first inning, it looked like it could be a long night for the Tigers. But St. X pitcher, Kyle Just and his impressive defense, stepped up and shut them down for the remaining 4 innings of the game. An early double by Kal Scheler, boosted by back to back triples from Brian Erie and Ben Zoeller, sparked the Tigers to an early 5-1 lead in the bottom of the 1st. Their bats came alive again in the 4th as they scored 5 more runs to put the bears on ice. The tigers scored the final run in the bottom of the 5th to put the game away for good. The Tigers had an explosive 15 hits and improved their record to 15-8. Kyle Just picked up his 3rd consecutive win on the mound and improved his season record to 3 and 2. :thumb: Keep Workin' Hard TIGERS! :thumb:

St. X versus Lexington Christian is cancelled. :cry:

Northern Kentucky University is in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC). The GLVC is a wood bat league. They are the only NCAA wood bat league left in the US. Years ago when everyone else was going to metal bats, the GLVC opted to stay a wood bat league to protect their players from injury. The Bellarmine University - KNIGHTS are in the GLVC. The Knights were tied for first place in the league earlier this week. Wrong forum for this, but I have heard NKU was leaving the GLVC next year? Anybody confirm this?

I think all too often the common thread we share of a Catholic education and belief system gets forgotten by some fans from both St. X and Trinity. As jimmyref and rockmom eluded too above, a large majority of kids from both schools went to the same elementary school together were best friends there and still are friends off the field. We need to embrace anything that brings this much attention to the Catholic High Schools in Kentucky. So Guru, my answer is: ALL BUT ONE! GO TIGERS!

It's my understanding that Naiser has decided to focus on the round ball and won't be playing football his Senior year. Anyone else heard this?

STRIKE3, I think you misiturpreted my question. My Question is: I'm not looking for what a specific team did last year or 20 years ago. I want to be able to go see were Lexington Catholic, Boyle Co., Larue County or whatever team we are playing today, stands at this point in their season? and who they've beat or lost to?

Does the KHSAA or KHSBCA or any other organization compile current Baseball season records of all Kentucky teams throughout the season? If so were do you go to find it?

I haven't been to a Varsity game yet this year that I wasn't charged an admission. The majority have been $3.00; however, some have been $4.00 and $5.00. $5.00 is rediculous for a regular season game. Especially since you can go to a Louisville Bats Game for $7.00 and to a UofL Cardinals game for FREE!

The Tigers had a trick play pulled on them just this past weekend down in Alabama. With runners at 1st and 2nd, there pitcher, before going on the rubber, wheeled and facked a through towards 2nd base. The SS dove in front of the runner, The 2nd baseman dove behind the runner and the center fieilder started charging and yelling that he had it, their dugout was yelling get the ball. Our coaches started yelling "GO" and the runner at second headed for third and the pitcher threw the ball to his 3rd baseman for the out. Shame on us for falling for it, but it was well executed. JMHO But, if KY has a rule to prevent this type of play; that is lame. I guess someone got their feelings hurt because they got fooled by another team pulling it on them. :laugh: Those Cry-babies are just mad cause they didn't think of it first. :laugh:
