Hilltopper2005 Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 As a fan of High School baseball I have traveled and seen many games over the years. I was never so shocked in all my life to be charged $5 for a regular season game at Western Hills of all places. You can go to Legends game for less money. The charge was $5 for adults and $4 for students. That is ridiculous! FYI - The Harrison County Frank Shoop Classic is being played this weekend and there is reportedly no admission price. Harrison County, Boyd County and Model in one pool and Lexington Catholic, Boone County and Louisville Eastern in the other pool. Should be some good baseball at a great price!
Mr. No Name Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 UK charges $2. Some HS charger around $4-5. Rediculous
jahearme Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Harrison Co. is one of very few (in fact, I can't think of any) places where they don't charge to get into games, besides the McDonald's Classic. I agree, the prices are out of control, but baseball is a revenue sport and I think most places have to charge something. But I agree, $5 is WAAAAY too much!

However, most HS baseball programs do not get the financial support like other sports. For instance in football and basketball all of the boys uniforms (including cleats/shoes) are paid for but this is not the case in baseball. This is unfortunate but widespread I am sure.
Lunatic1 Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 I think schools should go with a $1.00 rate for students or let them in free. It is sad that many kids can not attend games because they are too expensive. This should be for all sports!
daballer03 Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 No charge at Wolfe Co. I wouldn't be surprised if admission to baseball games is free more often than not.
stickymittsgirl Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Highlands doesn't charge either. I think that it is crazy to charge $5.00 to see a baseball. Some schools don't even charge that much for football games.
KY Thorobred Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 $5 for a baseball game is pretty bad. Is this what WHHS always charges or was it a special rate since they were playing their crosstown rivals the Frankfort Panthers??? Either way, it is too much! You'd think with a $5 admission charge, there wouldn't be many fans. I've been to Hills for a few football games to watch the Breds and if I remember correctly, there is a parking lot just behind the baseball field over the right field fence. So for those opposing fans and parents, you may try and park up there and save $5-$10.
STRIKE3 Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Schools need to generate some revenue, unless they can sustain. I've been to many places, seen differing amounts. $3 - Adults $2 - Students $2 - Adults $1 - Students Either of these options, should be okay with most.
SLINK Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Two or three dollars would be sufficient , if the school charges.
BirdieCat Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 I haven't been to a Varsity game yet this year that I wasn't charged an admission. The majority have been $3.00; however, some have been $4.00 and $5.00. $5.00 is rediculous for a regular season game. Especially since you can go to a Louisville Bats Game for $7.00 and to a UofL Cardinals game for FREE!
3ptshooter Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Highlands doesn't charge either. I think that it is crazy to charge $5.00 to see a baseball. Some schools don't even charge that much for football games. Maybe they will start honoring KY State High School Coaches Passes at football games? Not many NKY schools charge at a baseball game, regular season anyway. Sorry, another subject but I couldn't resist.
