Schools need to generate some revenue, unless they can sustain. I've been to many places, seen differing amounts.

 

$3 - Adults

$2 - Students

 

This is what Knott Central charges.

I go to games all over, and $3 seems to be the standard. I'm shocked when I see it any higher than that.

No charge at Bourbon Co. but there was a $5 charge at Scott High

The best buy in HS Baseball in this state....

 

No charge for city doubleheaders played at the HS fields in Lexington.

No charge at Mason Co. They tried to get it $1 adults and students free, but were told it was ridiculous to charge for a baseball and no one would pay it...

Nice support of the athletic dept. It cost 100.00 to host a game. Real nice!!!!!! If you play a lot of home games that is a huge negative......not to mention the cost of field upkeep

I was never charged at Simon Kenton. They tried to make us pay to watch districts (I think) but we went the outfield and sat and watched.

 

I also went to a game at G-town college the other day and it was free.

People complain that they have to pay for baseball games why? The teams have only one product they can use to raise funds and that is their game. JUST LIKE FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL. Umps, field dry, game baseballs, striping paint and/or chalk, are all mostly non-recyclable components of the game. Unlike basketball where you have refs yes, but you get to reuse the basketballs over and over, etc. Outfield signs (like gym signs and football programs etc.) are a tough sell sometimes because advertisers are at the end of their budgets just aas the end of the school year arises (ala Spring Sports). I don't see people complaining about paying for track meets!!

I have never been to a track meet and wouldn't pay to see one anyway. But, $5 for adults and $4 for students is ridiculous for High School Regular season baseball games. $3 for adults and $1 for students would be acceptable to most. At Western Hills for $5 thay should have provided valet parking. :banana:

We have to make money somehow. I know budgets are tight, right now, in most school districts. But the money that is spent on other programs that pays for nonessential items, (or as I like to call it, nonsense items), can better serve the baseball program with baseballs and some things to help the field to stay in shape. Baseball isn't the only sport that suffers from these items. Softball, volleyball, and cheerleaders. I see these programs trying to raise money all the time. Every little bit helps. So, pay your way into a game, it's helping the program a lot.

WHHS has something called the Home Run Club (Booster Club) and they aren't hurting for money, they do alright with pull tabs down at the Bingo in Frankfort.

They have pretty much dropped out of BINGO since the smoking ban came to Frankfort. Not making as much money as they have historically and they have to make it up someway. The Boards of Education have to raise taxes to pay for these activities or they have to charge more at the gate, or they charge to play.

 

It is disingenous to say you get in Free at the games in Lexington when the kids that are on the team have to pay somewhere in the neighborhood 500.00 just to walk on the field. If they play 30 games that is more than $15.00 per game for the players, and people complain about 5.00 to get in. WOW

 

Any suggestions on where to get the money to support the program if 5.00 at the gate is too much.

 

FWIW I think 5.00 was becasue it is a district game.

I WAS AT THE BOYD COUNTY - ASHLAND GAME THIS EVENING AND THE PRICE AT BOYD COUNTY WAS $5.00 TOO! JUST A REGULAR GAME. I BELIEVE THIS IS JUST TOO MUCH FOR A HIGH SCHOOL GAME.

By "you" I meant anyone who just wants to walk up and watch baseball. As for "paying" to play, that depends on which team you are talking about. It is possible to play for some of them inexpensively (and by that I mean virtually for nothing) if you are willing to sell ads, work bingo, etc.
