Pretty sure the article said High School. But hey, if your going to spend 300.0 for a bat, might as well buy 6, 50.00 wood bats. Man are we going to have some hellacious bat racks. LOL

Looks like a coalition of parents, coaches, and manufactures are going to file a law suit to block the ban on metal bats. I like the parent's excuse and the excuse given by a former coach to stop the ban.

I like the move to wood bats, but i would like to NCAA pass something to where college uses wood bats only. Maybe NY will set a trend for many other states to follow.

The metal bat ban was strictly for safety. There have been numerous deaths related to the speed that the ball leaves the metal bat and strikes a pitcher or infielder. Took a lot of guts to pass this law, rumor Gov of New York will veto the bill. Have to wait and see.

If you were at the Doc Morris tourney this past weekend, then you would know why there should only be wooden bats. That's what baseball was meant to be played with. Also, true baseball players prefer them. The kids I talked to do.

It's a nice idea but the NY players would be at a disadvantage.

:laugh: Define "true baseball players". I met quite a few that liked them and quite a few that don't. But labelling them as a ballplayer or not is ridiculous.

Yes...I believe the only time they use metal is when they play outside their conference.

I agree that the change should be made to a wooden bat at the high school and college level. Not only of the saftey perspective but I enjoy the sound of a wooden bat, that to me is baseball.

You are correct, The Great Lakes Valley Conference is the only Conference in America that uses wood bats. That is in all divisions, I, II & III or NAIA or JC. It is a great way to play the game. The one thing wooden bats do is weed out the good hitters, if you don't hit the ball solid you are more than likely going to break your bat. This gets rid of the guys hitting .750 with no doubles, home runs and few RBI's. I think it is great for Baseball. I think everyone should go wood.

Are these going to be the same parents of kids who go on to college and be successful than get drafted and are flops because they've never used a wood bat before? IMO, NY high school baseball will move up in caliber of play and overall talent because of this...
