The St. X Tigers improved to 23 and 9 last night by defeating the Manual Crimsons 11 to 3 in the first round of district play. This sets up a fantastic rematch tonight against long time rival Male High School at 6 pm @ St. X.

 

Damon McCormick while not pitching a flawless game, did quit well. He only gave up 6 hits in 6 innings. Cory Boughy with the help of his defense came in and closed the game in the 7th mowing down their number 1, 2 & 3 batters to end the game.

 

A clutch hit by Ryan Cline with bases loaded began the dominate 4th inning when the flood gates opened and allowed 6 runs. Ben Zoeller, who was 0 for 1 on the night and scored 3 runs, drew his 2nd walk of the night with bases loaded to add an RBI for the Tigers. An insurance run added by Kevin Brinkman in the top of the 7th inning closed out the scoring for St. X.

Congratulations to the red hot Tigers. It would be nice to get a win against Male and go into the region as a district champ and get break on the first round game.The 7th region is always a meat grinder! On a side note how cool was that to host a night district game in Tiger park!
