  1. :banana::banana: ONLY 50 MORE DAYS! :banana::banana: :banana::banana: CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? :banana::banana:
  2. Brian Buehner, son of the infamous Rick Buehner (class of '76), looks to be a hot prospect for the St. X Tigers in the near future. JMHO, but I think Brian will see some field time for the Varsity Tigers Offense this year as a Sophomore. Brian handled himself very well in both the UofL and Bullet East 7on7 tournaments. The Freshman Tigers went 7 and 1 last year loosing only to Cincinnati Moeller, at Moeller, with an 11 am start time. That means the Baby Bengals had to get up at the crack of dawn to make the trip to Cincy. Plus it was their opening game of the season.
  3. 10 and 0 as an '04 Freshman + 8 and 1 as an '05 JV Sophomore + 14 and 1 as an '05 Varsity Sophomore + 9 and 3 as an '06 Varsity Junior = 32 and 5 in 3 years! Now that's impressive! :thumb: GO TIGERS! :thumb:
  4. I agree T2P, I was there and it really was no big deal. Just for the record it was the players, NOT the coaches that were involved. That's just somebody tryin' to start something that isn't true. Congrats Fairdale on a good 7on7 victory.
  5. You're right RP......... And we haven't even played the first game there.
  6. I was on campus last night and all the lights were on for the football field in the new stadium, as well as the baseball park. I took it upon myself to sneak in and offer them a personal seating test of some of the new chairback seats. I sat in the first row, at about the 50 yard line, Great View!. I sat about half way up the stands, at about the 50 yard line, Great View! I then sat all the way at the top row, at about the 50 yard line, Great View! Bottom Line: There isn't a bad chairback seat in the house or even a regular seat in the stadium for that matter. What a thrill it is going to be when you add all the hoopla to go with this magnificent structure. :thumb: GO TIGERS! :thumb:

  8. This has got to be one of the best ideas I've seen come out of BGP. GREAT JOB, gchs_uk9! The only thing I would change is the Final Championship of the State Tournament, I would do what is done in the NCAA World Series, they pit the winner of the Winners Bracket against the Winner of the Loser's Braket in a Best of Three Series. This forces you to really think about your pitching and it crowns the better overall "TEAM", not the team with the one best pitcher.
  9. Your point is very well made and I agree. Look back at my post, I said then I don't agree. But that is the way it was started by jrider111 at the outset of this thread. That being said, it sounds like it is unanimous that we should make this change. Can I have a motion from the floor to make this change???????
  10. This creates a large hole for the BGP family and Trinity High School that will not close for a very long time. I pray for peace for LSURock's family. Peace of mind to know that he is in a better place than we are. Also, for all those who knew him and for those, like me, who were touched by him in his way, some positive, some not so positive, we are different people because of our contact with him, having known him or knowing of him. His Passion for Trinity, the game of football and life itself was obviously enormous. May the legend live on forever! God Bless you LSURock, see you on the other side!:thumb:

  12. Anybody have updates on the game?
  13. STRIKE3, You and I are in concert here. I agree a high school pitcher SHOULDN'T/WOULDN'T be allowed to throw 150-200 pitches. IT IS INSANE to let a kid throw that many pitches. Food for thought. 1. MINIMUM PITCHES IN A NINE INNING, NO SCORE GAME: A pitcher throwing all strikes for nine full innings faces 27 batters. 27 batters times one pitch per batter equals 27 total pitches. (Assumes a ground out or pop-up on every batter.) 2. MAXIMUM PITCES IN A NINE INNING, NO SCORE GAME: A pitcher working every batter to a full count, loading the bases on the first three, then striking out the next three in every inning faces 54 batters. 54 batters times six pitches per batter equals 324. (Assumes no ground outs or pop-ups.) Both scenarios are at the extreme, I know. Neither is going to happen except on a fluke. But my point is this: The range from 27 to 324 is very broad and open. A coach who only pays attention to innings pitched has no idea the exact number of pitches a kid has thrown. It is not inconceivable for a kid to get to that kind of pitch count if no-one is paying attention. The best solution is a click counter. That's what I used and I would assign the task to my starting pitcher from our last game. It gave him something to do and kept him in the game. I don't know the exact number the kid in my previous post was at, but I would venture to guess he was somewhere in the 140 to 150 range. The final score was 5 to 4 in ten innings, we left 8 stranded and the kid pitched nine innings in EARLY April and wanted to pitch the tenth. This Is INSANE.
  14. Coop - Don't be so quick to hang this coach. Here are a couple of points to think about. 1. IF this team run ruled their opponent 3 times, the pitcher could not possibly have thrown that many pitches. Unless the scores were 20 to 30; or he went to a full count on every batter and left the bases full every inning. I doubt either of those are what actually happened. But, just for arguments sake, let's assume that this is the case and the kid has thrown 150 plus pitches. 2. There is nothing for the KHSAA to take action on. The coach is playing within the rules of the game. The KHSAA rules are stipulated on "INNINGS PITCHED", not pitch counts. That is the topic of this thread. 3. Maybe it's the kid doing the pushing to stay in the game. I saw a kid (Name and team intentionally withheld) in one of our early games this year pitch 9 strong innings. Still tied in the top of the tenth the same kid came out to pitch. The umpire told him he couldn't pitch because of the 9 inning per game limit set by KHSAA. The kid went off. His coach had to go out and get him off the field. 4. What about the kid's parents. Nine times out of ten it's the parents that are pushing little Johnny to do whatever it takes to get a scholarship. What they don't realize is that if little Johnny blows out an arm there won't be any athletic scholarship. They better hope his academics are good enough to get him some money. There is a lot of contributing factors that are not known by anyone accept those directly involved. Every situation is going to be different. That's why KHSAA needs to adopt PITCH COUNTS instead of innings pitched to protect the kid from themselves, their coaches, and yes even their parents.
  15. Watusi, all this does is serve to confuss the masses. Since this thread started, in excess of 250 days ago, TODAY and THE DAY OF THE GAME, were both included in the total. I'm NOT saying I agree, but it is what it is, Bro. Or Sis, as the case might be, since I don't know thy gender.
  16. :dancingpa 82 AND COUNTING! :dancingpa
  17. I don't know what part of the State you're from, but here in LA (Louisville Area) most of the JV and Varsity high school players stay together and play a mixed schedule of AAU, USSSA, USTOC, Sandlot and Knothole league, travel and tournament play.
  18. Kevin Brinkman. Excellent athlete. Good Football lineage. I predict a top 10 finish for this kid if he stays focused and injury free.
  19. I definitely agree with the early season reduction in pitches for a lot of reasons. Primarily because of outdoor temperatures. Early in the season its cold. Even a kid who has been throwing all winter long indoor quit often never gets completely warmed up because of the outdoor temps. Pitch count limits is so obviously correct. Why can't something this easy be put in the rule book by the KHSAA for the protection of the kids arms? Oh! I'm Sorry, I had a brain fart, the KHSAA is NOT about the kids, they're about what's fair for their superintendents. They wouldn't consider anything this sensible. That would be to easy!:irked:
  20. Actually, you better go get your tickets right now if you want a chair back seat. The chair back seats will be reserved for the first two home games of the year. They went on sale last week and it's my understanding from an inside source they are going very quickly.
