They wimped out at the last minute. The Moeller coach called about 8 am Saturday morning to cancel the game. He said something about the predicted wind chill temp of 22 degrees. WIMP! J/K I'm really glad they called it, it would have been COOOOLD!

It's my understanding that St. X Versus Cincy Moeller @ Moeller is still on at Noon Saturday. :thumb: GO TIGERS!:thumb:

They The Saint Tigers improved their record to 6 and 2 last night by defeating Waggener 11-1 at Tiger Park. It looked like Waggner was going to make a game of it in the top of the first inning by scoring quickly and ten shutting down the Tigers in the bottom of the first. Starting pitcher, Ryan Mosby,was going to have no part of that possibility. He struck out 10 and only allowed 2 hits. Offensively the Tigers had 11 hits. Chad Deely and Ben Zoeller had 2 hits each, combined with a Nick Dewees double and Mike Cecil triple. Keep working strong Tigers!

In the first extra inning game of the season and the first game of a Double Header on Saturday, March 31, Ben Zoeller had a clutch 2 out, double RBI single, in the top of the 9th to score the winning runs. This was the key to the Tigers win against Woodford Co. Big hits by Eric Brewer, Damon McCormick and Brian Erie helped put the Tigers in position to win. Kal Scheler and Justin Amlung pitched a masterful final 5 innings to give the Tigers the momemtum. The game lasted over 3 hours with 5 lead changes. What a game. GO TIGERS!

The Tigers had their first setback of the season, losing to Bullitt East last night. They jumped out to a commanding 7-0 lead after 3 innings lead by Brian Erie's 2 run homer. Kal Scheler and Eric Brewer had timely hits to help increase the lead before the Chargers startied chipping away at the Tigers lead. The Tigers pitchers had trouble throwing strikes and the game got away with some key Charger hits and some Tiger errors. The Tigers threatened in the 6th with another RBI single by Brian Erie but the Tigers stranded the tieing runs on base to end the game. Hang in there Tigers, we'll get'em next time.

It was a very nice crowd. Mostly X fans as one would imagine. They ordered 300 commemorative miniature bats for opening of the new ball park and they all were gone in a matter of minutes. This field is one of the best High School fields in the state. It has state of the art sports turf in color coded areas to look just like a regulation field. A regulation dirt mound and circle around home plate. It is 330 feet done the lines, 375 in the alleys and 405 in center field. The home and visitor bullpens are located directly behind their respective dugouts for easy access by each team. The dugouts are properly equipped with slots and cubby holes for bat and helmet storage. Outside the fences, the Park has a large concourse area as you enter for fans to gather before during and after the game. It has a stadium seating area that surrounds the back stop from dugout to dugout. It has very wide aisles for comfort and ease of entry, exit and re-entry by spectators. It has a large press box with lots of windows for good viewing by many. It has a state of the art score board that not only keeps track of the score, but keeps track of the score by inning, shows hits and errors, shows the player at bat number for identification in your program. There is a PA and sound system that is unbelievable. Each player has his own personally selected song that plays when he comes to the plate that is preprogrammed. A lot of effort and thought went in to making this park a players park as much as a spectators park. :thumb:

St. X opened its brand new Ball Park last night in a big way with a 4 1/2 inning shut out against Meade County. Damon McCormick had a no hitter going until the top of the 5th inning when Meade co. eeked one by the second baseman. There was a collective grown from the home crowd when it happened. Eric Brewer gets credit for the first hit; in the first game ever at Tiger Park. That'll be something to tell his grandkids.

Yea! You're right Xtiger69. I have driven by Male HS and noticed them taking fielding practice in the parking lot. :scared: Not exactly the same thing as being on the field.

With all the parking available down the hill in Germantown ball park, I find it hard to believe this would be a problem. Unless of course one starts at Flabbies and then finds oneself in an impaired state and has to walk to St. X to take in the game. Now that is a realistic possibility!

You're right bulldog, I didn't mean to sound all inclusive of every situation, there are definite exceptions. But my point is still the same: The kid needs to play for the team that will get him the most "In-Game" experience. If a kid makes his High School team as a seventh or eighth grader because the High School is short on players and he's going to get a lot of PT; then I am all for the kid playing up. It should be about what's best for the kids development as a player.

Where is little Bobby more likely to get the most playing time? I have seen kids just get stars in their eyes, and Moms and Dads puff up with pride that little Bobby has made his High School baseball team as an eighth grader or, God forbid, as a seventh grader. Then when it comes to the season the kids that are actual freshman get all the "In-Game" playing time. All the while Bobby is riden the pine. Oh sure, he's getting the experience practicing with the big boys. But for his development as a player there is know substitute for "In-Game" experience. JMO - But you are doing more harm to that kids potential as a player, by letting him ride the pine as an eighth grader than what he will ever gain by being up there with the "Big Boys". Again, JMO. Put him on a select team, an AAU team, a little league team, a Babe-Ruth team, a knot hole team or whatever team that will get him the most "In-Game" experience. That's what's best for the kid. It's not as good for Moms, Dads or the kids ego, but it will get the kid better prepared to compete at the next level. So that when the kid becomes a true freshman he has the confidence to compete for and beat out Johnnie for that position on the freshman team. Put the kid on the team to get the most playing time on the field.

I hear ya and to a certain degree I agree. I will miss seeing a player slid into 2nd or 3rd and come up covered in dirt. But how many games have you seen rained out in the spring because of a storm that rolls through at 4 pm and is gone by 4:30 pm that could have otherwise been played. That will never happen with a turf field.
