From Williamsburg these were 1st team selections: Player of the year awards went to Thomas Frazier as QB of the year, and Aaron Root as LB of the year. Also selected to 1st team: WR - Chase Hamlin OL - AJ Jusino DB - Stephen Jefferies DB - Will Moses Tickled with the player of the year awards for Root and Frazier. Both had tremendous years and awards well well deserved! If Root were at a bigger school I think he would be an all state selection hands down. He's is one heck of a natural linebacker with great instincts and a nasty hitter!

Class A district 7 all district team annouced - http://www.harlandaily.com Somerset's John Cole was player of the year (well deserved I might add...what a player!) Proud as can be here as a Williamsburg fan as Thomas Frazier was named Quarterback of the year, and the baby bull Aaron Root was named Linebacker of the Year. Frazier has a wonderful arm and could make a nice QB at the next level. Root is just the best natural LB I have seen in the past 20 years. If he were 6' tall instead of 5'8" we would see him at a D1, as it is though, several NAIA and D2 schools are in on him, and if not mistaken, Murray State is still writing. Congratulations to these 2 fine young men whom we have so enjoyed watching the past 4 years!

D-1-6 I think will come down to Williamsburg and Lynn camp. Williamsburg will be young and will have a hard time replacing Root at LB and Frazier at QB. Look for Jerry Herron to revamp his spread offense a bit to fit the Talents of a young Ryan Moses at QB and Will Moses at RB\Receiver. Williamsburg has a much tougher schedule set up this next year and it should be one that prpares the young Jackets for district play.

Two outstanding young men from Williamsburg come to mind. Thomas Frazier, QB, and Aaron Root, FB\LB. Both have been a joy to watch over the past 4 years on the field, yet as good as they have been on the field, they are tremendous off the field as well. Not sure about Thomas' GPA but he was a top 5 senior. Aaron has a 3.29 overall. Both are true student atheletes, and just doggone good people to be around. Tremendous work ethic and some college coach is going to love have either of these young men.

Weighing in with my 2 cents from the hated Williamsburg fan base (lol).... I may have to give up my Passport to get across the state line into Whitley county for this, but I'm pulling for the Jumpers. Represent our district well and good luck Friday night to the purple and gold.

Would have to Agree on Frazier and Root. Heard Frazier led Class A in passing and I know Root had 164 tackles as a Jr. and another 150 or so as a senior is what I heard...so in 2 years over 314 tackles...wow. Both these kids are as hard nosed as I have seen in a number of years.

Just felt compelled to put this thread on here to say thanks to the Senior class at Williamsburg High School for 4 years of fond memories. Have a relative who is a senior this year and we have enjoyed watching him grow into a wonderful young man and a fine football player. This group went 30 and 15 over their 4 years and were in the playoffs 3 out of 4 years, and were region runner-ups as sophmores. So Chase Hamlin thanks for the excitement you gave with some unbelieveable catches, Thomas Frazier your a tough son of a gun with a rifle arm, Aaron Root buddy you are a player, your fire and enthusiasm kept me fired up too! I admire the way you play and the example you set. AJ Jusino played through some hurts this year, always seemed to be hustling though, Steven Jefferies...boy what a run you had making the tough important catches, Charlie Bryant, I think you found your niche on defense this year, it was fun watching you run down those QB's Rocky Hayes good year, wish you had played all 4 Eric Hopkins always the smallest but boy you fought hard Travis Ray you moved to the line this year and I saw alot of good blocks from you, John Adkins you seemed to be the utility guy and filled in whever needed, Hope I didn't leave anyone out, just wanted to say thanks to a bunch of hard working kids who gave us alot of pleasure and excitement. Best of luck to all these guys and congratulations for a fine season!

Wow what a ball game. Congrats to Harlan on a hard fought win. I predicted the winner would be by 7 or less in a closer game than most thought. Williamsburg fought hard and Root, Frazier, and Jefferies stepped up big. Aaron Root played his guts out and If there is a better LB in class A I haven't seen him. The kid is "old school tough" and some college coach is going to be very happy to get a kid with his drive, heart, and courage. Harlan....good luck...Hope you all pound those rascally rabbits! Williamsburg...you seniors gave us fans a great 4 year ride, playoffs 3 out of 4 years!...Best of luck to you all in your futures, you made this town proud! Hold your heads up! Coach Herron congrats on a great first year, you and your staff did a wonderful job with these fine young men. Its obivious the love these men have for this team, and the love and respect these boys have for the staff.

Have to disagree. As a former college coach I would recruit the heck out of the kid.

We have always been a fan of Williamsburg's Aaron Root. Has been outstanding at LB the past 2 years, his Jr. year set a school record with 164 tackles, and his Sr. year I heard over 150 thus far. Has a nose for the ball! This year he was moved to FB in Williamsburg's spread offense for blocking purposes and has shown to be a bull of a runner with deceptive moves and speed. Has several long plays (3 over 70 yards that I recall, and several more 40 plus) this year both running and receving. Made one of the most amazing 12 yard runs I've seen against Evarts, was hit in the backfield twice, broke those tackles and seemed that everybody on the D had a shot at him, yet he would not go down. The two point play against Lynn Camp was the most amazing play I have seen a High School kid make. To pick up a fumbled snap, run to one sideline and break a tackle then reverse field and throw a pass to the back corner for the conversion was unbelievable! Stan Lovett, the voice of the Jackets called it the most amazing play he had ever seen. Several NAIA, D2, and D3 schools are recruiting this fine young man!

I agree, think it will be a high scoring ball game.

I for one hate the blue, and if you notice there is no blue in the football uniforms now. Black trim on the away jerseys would be nice and help with seeing the numbers.

When looking at Williamsburg, they exceeded my personal expectations. Losing a head coach before summer practice started was tough and these kids could have folded the tent. Jerry Herron and his staff kept these kids together, the captains, Aaron Root, Thomas Frazier, AJ Jusino, Chase Hamlin, and Steven Jefferies have provided great senior leadership, and in talking with these kids they have found a great chemistry and closeness. The one thing coach Herron really sells and the kids have totally bought into, is pride in wearing the orange. My hats off to this fine coaching staff, and especially these hard fighting young men! Now lets go get Harlan!

If the field is dry this could get to be a shoot out. Even though the last game went Harlan's way, Frazier to Root was the only offense the Jackets could muster. Now the Jackets have all their weapons in the quiver and Frazier could fire to Root, Hamlin, Jefferies, Patrick, and Brock. The Jackets d will never be great, and really has only one big play guy in Root, but it is getting a bit better each game.

Congrats to Coach Black and his seniors. Hope this bodes well for him next season!

Won't predict a score or a winner on this one. I think it will be a tough, hard fought game by two classy teams. Harlan almost pulled it off against Somereset and having beat the Jackets earlier will give them a confidence edge. This group of Jackets may have found themselves after the Harlan loss. I hope the game lives up to the hype in my mind (lol...what little mind I have left anyway) and both teams are injury free. As much as I hate the drive to Harlan, I will say we have been treated well by their fans and I can't wait for this trip or game!

Seems alot of sour grapes...If you want to complain about officiating Frazier was hit late several times after passes, watched Jusino get clipped 15 yards behind a W'burg score, Root almost get his Facemask twisted off away from the play...yes they weren't great but it wasn't just blown calls from the Lynn Camp side. And your complaints about fan treatment, I have experienced as bad or worse from every team in the district with the exception of Harlan. I have played and coached in alot of towns and areas, and we love coming up from Knoxville to see a realtive play for the Jackets, and this district seems to have some really bad home fans. Last year at Lynn Camp we were cursed at unmercifully. So I guess I'm saying look in the mirror, and be sure you polish your glass house before you throw rocks at mine.

Frazier and Hamlin get the headlines for the Jackets and deservedly so, but Aaron Root is a PLAYER. I can't even begin to describe the two ponit conversion play he threw to Hamlin tonight, but it was one of the most heads up plays this old man has ever seen. He recovers the bad snap after Frazier bobbles it, run left to the boundry, stiff arms and breaks a tackle, reverses field, and throws a strike to Hamlin in the far corner....wow what a play! Jefferies had a good night with a TD reception, Hamlin broke a long one for a score, Root bulled his way in for another TD, and Frazier scored on the Ground. Harlan will be a big task next week but don't sell these kids short! I, for one, am amazed at the job Jerry Herron and his staff have done with this group. He has really put the fight in these youngins!

Should be fairly good feild conditions tonight in spite of the weather...Williamsburg has tarpped (I guess thats the correct spelling) the feild, and on top of that Findley - Legion is one of the best surfaces in this part of the state. Unless its raining during the game it should be a good track.
