Jackets win in a traditional rivalry game. Jeffries makes the plays tonight that put the dagger in the Campers. Several big catches and a huge return to put the game on ice for the Orange and White.

Frazier and Hamlin get the headlines for the Jackets and deservedly so, but Aaron Root is a PLAYER. I can't even begin to describe the two ponit conversion play he threw to Hamlin tonight, but it was one of the most heads up plays this old man has ever seen. He recovers the bad snap after Frazier bobbles it, run left to the boundry, stiff arms and breaks a tackle, reverses field, and throws a strike to Hamlin in the far corner....wow what a play! Jefferies had a good night with a TD reception, Hamlin broke a long one for a score, Root bulled his way in for another TD, and Frazier scored on the Ground. Harlan will be a big task next week but don't sell these kids short!

I, for one, am amazed at the job Jerry Herron and his staff have done with this group. He has really put the fight in these youngins!

No truer words could be written. Root reminds me of Chad Price from back in the day. If Root were a featured back he might have Roskcough like numbers...now that youngin can carry the mail.

LC finally showed some fire this year. Too little, too late for the Cats.

 

Lineman downfield. That was an obvious blown call. There was a lot of clock mismanagement on ball placement, too. LC had a couple of delay of games that seemed awful quick. Got out a watch and timed two plays when the Burg got the ball on the next couple of series. One went 32 seconds, one went 45. No flag. It was'nt Williamsburg's fault, I AM NOT SAYING THAT, before that firestorm starts, but the officiating team seemed very lost and unprepared. ALSO, I think that it may have been an illegal game, at least by Official's uniform standards code. At least 2 of the officials were totally out of official uniform. I'm fairly certain that an official is not allowed to run around the whole night in blue windbreaker type sweat pants. Does anyone know the rule on this? We discussed it as soon as we saw them. Seems like there was something I saw in the rulebook once on this very thing. The radio guys mentioned them being out of uniform before we got to the game. It had the look of a middle school game where the officials did'nt show up and they got people out of the stands and gave them a stripped shirt and a whistle.

While I'm on my soapbox, it seems like every year that we play at Williamsburg, the local police come over and start on the LC fans. It happened again tonight. About 5 came over like the football ghestapo. Does this happen over there with any other schools? It dosen't seem to happen anywhere else we go. Before anyone says it, yes, a few of our fans "redneck out", but some of the Jacket fans on the LC side of the field always do, too. Nothing violent is yelled, no threats are made that I have heard, but every other year, here they come like clockwork, threatning to take people out of there. I don't know if complaints are made, or if it just happens. I don't know who would complain on the visitor's side of the field ON the visitors. Dosen't seem like they would get upset about theirselves. You can yell at ballgames. It's not the library. Williamsburg always seems very negative to the LC and Somerset fans. Not in a heat-of-the-game/ rivalry type of way, but a hostile, resentful enviroment the whole way around. It's getting really bad. This is what causes so much bad blood between the schools, IMO.

Seems alot of sour grapes...If you want to complain about officiating Frazier was hit late several times after passes, watched Jusino get clipped 15 yards behind a W'burg score, Root almost get his Facemask twisted off away from the play...yes they weren't great but it wasn't just blown calls from the Lynn Camp side. And your complaints about fan treatment, I have experienced as bad or worse from every team in the district with the exception of Harlan. I have played and coached in alot of towns and areas, and we love coming up from Knoxville to see a realtive play for the Jackets, and this district seems to have some really bad home fans. Last year at Lynn Camp we were cursed at unmercifully. So I guess I'm saying look in the mirror, and be sure you polish your glass house before you throw rocks at mine.

I also said that the fans acted the same both ways (some are redneckish). Now, that said, fans will be fans, good and bad, at any level, but how many places do you go that the authorities are always encircling YOUR fans? This is something that has always been strange to me. I have been to a lot of games between the two up there over the years, and it always ends up the same way. Call it sour grapes, call it dippsy doodle if you want to, but it happens and it's weird that it only happens there and not in the rest of the district. I'd like to know if this happens to the Somerset fans when they're visiting there, because I know there have been some incidents between those two fan bases over the last few years, too. I'm sorry that you got cursed at last year, but that would not be an isolated incident either way in this series.

For a very, very long time, True Hound. The middle school thing was something that happened that both sides are responsible for. It dose'nt even play into the high school events, that I know of. No one on either side talks about it much. It's only really mentioned when a certain local official that let it get out of hand and turned his back on it calls games for either school.

Daddy I kind of agree about fan issue. Sad thing is if you could pick about 5 fans from each team and not let them go to the game things would be alot better.
