Williamsburg 35 Lynn Camp 20

Featured Replies

Did anyone go to jail or were they accosted by the police? In the play off game at Williamsburg I saw and heard the officials come over to the police and ask for them to go over to the LC sidelines due to threats and verbal abuse. It happens, and if a show of force can keep something else from happening then you are miles ahead to stop it before it stops. Lets face it there is no love lost between these two schools on the football field.

BTW did LC bring their flag?

Onto the game, Williamsburg generally outplayed and outhustled LC and appeared to have wanted it more. Williamsburg had more to gain and it showed.

Who does LC have coming back next year besides Roskoph?

Apex sums it up pretty well...

Why complain??? Quit crying, nobody was picking on LC fans.

It happens every year. Why would a SHOW OF FORCE be needed? Nothing was going on to warrant any show of force. It's not the "Triangle of Death". It was a high school football game. The same stuff was done to Corbin and is done when Somerset visits up there, also. Maybe some of them will comment on here.

Everyone yells at the officials. It's part of the job description. I gurantee that there was some venting going on from the Jackets side of the field that was not all that friendly. Did someone threaten to do bodily harm or such things? Did anyone pull a weapon or act in a threatning manner?

I wish all the schools would put up the same type of home hospitality during a district season to y'all so you could see what it is like. (And, yes, you ,too, have fans that are as obnoxious and backward as you think we are. Everyone does.)

You can blame it on sour grapes, PMS, senility, whatever you want, but the whole thing goes on every year, it stinks, and if anyone says anything about it, they are complaining or crying. I think very few LC fans expected to win after the year we have had, but everyone that traveled up to the game knew what the enviroment would be like once thay got into the place.

We brought the flag.

Yes, we were out hustled and outplayed in the game.

Roskoph, Wagner, 1/2 the O line, Mitchell, Abner and about a dozen more return from this year's team. Michael Hall returns, also.

No, there is no love loss between these teams on the field, but what has been going on goes far beyond that. I'll shut up about it, now. I've said my peice, nothing will change and the season is over.

Good luck with the Dragons and the rest of the season. What's done is done and the season, for us, is done.

I was a readin what Daddy Cat was a sayin and I thought about it for a little bit....Here is Bubba's top 5 list about this here situation.

1. Every School has a few fans that can get out of hand.

2. Rivalry games seem to bring out the worst in some fans.

3. Some schools have a big reputation for carrying on worse than others. So it will take a few years of being "good" to get folks off their back...so to speak. Kinda like racial Profiling type of stuff.

4. Acts of foolishness between Wburg and LC fans have a been going on for decades, so it will take some time for things to quiet down.

5. Some of it is good natured fun, but always.... some people take it too far.

:thumb:

You're right with your list, Bubba, but I really don't see it ever dying down between the two. It runs too deep, I guess.

I thought with redistricting that they might separate the two, but they're the only ones that stayed together. There's a real possibility that they can play twice a year most seasons, now.

Yes, some teams have the redneck rep and it sticks, but some are perceived the opposite way and still act the other but no one pays attention. Almost all programs and fans are really somewhere in the middle, but, as you know, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Maybe the squeaky wheel should be replaced every now and then......

The games have been fairly cleanly played. Adults seem to be the problem not the kids.

I would agree...most of the youngins at the area schools are all friends. Us adults sometimes do silly things like a hollarin, yellin, and saying things that we had learned not to say in Kindergarten. If fans could only support their team and leave them other teams and fans alone.....Just Give Peace a Chance....lol... It happens at all levels. Why just tonight in South Carolina them there Gamecock' fans was a throwing bottles and stuff on the field due to some sorry officiatin. The rivalry between the two schools: Wburg and LC is a good one. The school leaders and Law Enforcement.. just need to be present at all contests between the schools to make sure that nothing gets out of hand and that if they do then they get sent off the field...not sure why they threw the parent out of the stadium last night, but I think it was for getting after an offical.... If they need some muscle then they can call out Ol' Bubba....since I have been known to "Whip some tail" when needed. Why just a little " Attitude Adjustment" in the words of Hank Jr. will surely make a person think twice before they go a making a mess of things. It is a shame when you walk into a gym or stadium with a chip on your shoulder due to past events. Everyone who attends high school games is their to show support for both teams. Maybe they need to think about the message they are a sending before they act like a fool..

The few times I've been down to the Burg to watch a little ball, they seemed to treat me OK or maybe I was too dumb to know any better.:D

That was a nice throw and catch on the two point try...But I'm still trying to figure out they didn't call lineman down field considering they were all in the endzone..

I have the game on tape, and I've watched that play about 4 or 5 times....didn't see a single lineman in the endzone. It was a called pass play, so all the linemen were pass blocking. However, it wasn't be best angle so it's possible one could have been past the line of scrimmage. But after reviewing it, it wasn't a blown call IMO.

.

Without getting into specifics, there were indeed threats issued on the lynn camp side of the field. It's unforunate you feel like you're being picked on as a fanbase, and even more unfortunate that these 5 or so fans from every team behave like they do....however, from what was being said, action was justified. In all probability everything would have been fine, but sometimes you have to take preventative measures to be sure things don't get out of hand. Let's just leave it at that.

I'm from Somerset and the last 3 times we've visited Williamsburg field 2 varsity games and a middle school game. The police were sent to our sideline within the first 5 minutes of the game. It seems as though you are only allowed to express your opinion there if you are cheering for the Jackets. Everything else is deemed a threat I guess. I never saw anyone touch anyone, menace anyone, or even look at anyone crossways yet the first time anyone expressed their displeasure at a call (and in the middle school game this year even though we won 24-6 we had 5 tds called back so there was a lot of displeasure) the police came to the sideline and in no uncertain terms told the crowd that they should be quiet or suffer the consequences. So no Lynn Camp it isn't just you and your flag. I'll be glad to get the heck out of this district next year even though it has been pretty good to us--21 and 3 over the last 4 years.

I I'll be glad to get the heck out of this district next year.

Well, based on the way we've been treated up there....don't let the door hit ya!:thumb:

Honestly, how did this thread get turned into a bash Williamsburg thread? Sour grapes....would anyone have mentioned this if Lynn Camp had won? I think we all know the answer to that...

Why don't we turn this around on the other teams? I've been to plenty of places in my life, and if you even throw in college games...the treatment from Sommerset that one time a few years ago was BY FAR the worst treatment I've ever experienced by a fanbase. And not just the '5 fans' ever team has...I can specifically think of an example of a Sommerset administrator who acted very poorly to our fans. Can you say the same about a Wburg admin? I think not. And I hardly think a preventative measure of calling the police qualifies nearly to the extent of what we experienced up there.

Make all the excuses you want, but there is no excuse for what went on up there...and for a Sommerset admin. to condone it....horrible.

And Williamsburg has no control over how the police handle it...if they warn all of the Sommerset fans not to yell...obviously that's on them, and not WIlliamsburg.

And that one trip to Sommerset wasn't an isolated incident by any means....

To Lynn Camp...I pretty much covered in another post that the police were indeed justified this trip. I cannot speak for the previous trips you've mentioned though. However, I think it's in very poor taste to come in and bring it up the way you did...pointing it out would have been one thing, but to start all this, bringing up Sommerset and impying Williamsburg is a mean group that picks on the visiting teams....ask some of your fans what was said, and then tell me if we were just picking on you?

So you all can go ahead and act like Williamsburg is just picking on you...act like your fans and school is above it and point all the fingers you want. Sommerset needs to take a good look in the mirror, and Lynn Camp needs to do a better job listening to the threats being issued by some of their fans...and then come back to this debate.

Well, based on the way we've been treated up there....don't let the door hit ya!:thumb:

Like I said before, we're 21-3 in this district, and most of those haven't been close. I didn't expect you to miss us and we've got no reason to treat you badly up here. You've presented little to no problem both times you've visited. :ylsuper: And its Somerset with one M, you should have noticed when the scoreboard was getting lit up. Oh and by definition "that one trip to Sommerset (sic) was not an isolated event" is an oxymoron. One trip, isolated event.....same thing........It doesn't matter at this point I don't think we'll be seeing you again anyway and we for sure won't have to come back over there.

Sorry about that...never could spell :p

I hold no grudges towards SoMerset, and think you all have a great team. I'm just pointing out that singling Williamsburg out is a mistake. "pot calling kettle black" type of thing, you know?

And just so you know, attacking people's grammar on a message board (LOL at that, BTW!), and then offering no counter arguement other than another cheap shot (not seeing you again)...just makes you look really bad. Worse, in fact, than you were trying to make me look by pointing that out. It's a message board....honestly...... I know you were trying to come off all bright, but it just makes it look like you have NOTHING to add but MORE cheap shots(lighting scoreboard up....and you're trying to defend Somerset? Honestly, there was no trashtalking about teams going on here before that). And regardless of correctness, you and everyone else knows what I meant.

Back on topic, singling Williamsburg out was uncalled for and unjustified...and in poor taste. I dug myself down to that level and took the bait and retaliated...I apologize for that. But regardless of spelling, my points are valid. Let's move past this and focus on a few exciting weeks of football.

As long as we argue about it like this, things won't get better between schools. Placing all the blame (Daddy's first post "this is where a lot of the bad blood comes from) on williamsburg or anybody is crazy. It takes two teams to have bad blood, and until both sides realize that it'll stay that way.

Good luck to all teams!
