Belfry was one step ahead of the Corbin offense for most of the game. Nothing Corbin did fooled them, making execution and fundamental football the main difference in the game.

I wondered why Corbin tried to run the ball when they had it down inside the 15 yd line in the 1st half after moving the ball down the field via the pass which ended up with a turnover on the fumble. They also tried to run on 4th and 2 around midfield in the 4th qtr when they were down 14-0 only to come up short. Belfry was just whipping them up front IMO to try and run it during these crucial plays.

South Laurel is not in the same district even though every team that comes to play Whitley will have to drive right past South Laurel and Whitley will have to go past South Laurel on every away game. South Laurel's political connections were not quite as good as Whitley's.

How is Josh Crawford progressing since his surgery? Will the kid who moved in from Elizabethtown be a factor this year?

Corbin needs to run the ball a lot better this year to keep their D off the field so much. If they can run it effectively against Belfry and shore up a couple of spots on the defense they have a good shot at winning. Belfry 20 Corbin 14

Whitley Co. came out way ahead.

These 2 backs you mention seem to give Corbin some big play ability they didnt have last year. Clay just looked overmatched from a physical standpoint, but I'm sure they will look better when they spread the field and let Lewis do his thing.

It may depend on how much the new coach changes his offense to suit Brohm. If they throw enough he has a shot.

Does anyone know who Whitley has scrimmaged?

Did most of them get hurt at camp? Is going to camp worth it?

I heard that he was at the Burg as well, which would make 3 schools in 3 years.

You could be right, but I would hold off on naming him as GM of the year until they win something.

How about Josh Crawford at the point with Barley, Smith, Johnson, & Manns. They could bring wilson & the other Crawford off the bench along with Cashen, Rogers, Craig & maybe the kid rumored to be moving in.

If you dont set your goals high enough, then you may never reach as high as you could have.

The Colonels will contend for the district title this year and should finish no lower than 2nd.

Corbin will be more of a power team this year from what Im hearing. The line avg is around 275 lb and will have a 230 lb back moving the chains. This should really open it up more for Cashen by making the defense respect the run as well.

I would like to see Rich Prewitt with the job at Whitley, he knows the kids and also knows how things work at Whitley County behind the scenes.

I thought I heard Coach Deaton singing on his way out of town "ya cant please everyone, so ya got to please yourself". The Colonels take a step backwards IMO.

Corbin rolled through the tourney with ease, I bet they would like to play in the 14th region instead of the 13th.:walk:
