Who appears to be the top 5 teams heading into next year?

I would think North and South Laurel should be there along with Bell Co. and Knox Central and Corbin. not in that order, but all have good teams coming back.

Has Bell Co. officially announced anything concerning their coaching situation?

Williamsburg loses an awful lot. It will be extremely difficult to replace Aaron Root at catcher. His bat, defense and leadership, were just phenominal the past 4 years. Losing Witt will thin out the pitching staff as well. Shelly returns to pitch,Surber should add depth, and Both Ryan and Will Moses will be back. I see the Jackets having the same problems as they have had, the defense is not very strong, and they will be limited in quality hitters. I look for Corbin, South, and North to be pretty good, and the team on the rise should be Whitley County. Afraid it may be slim pickings for the Jackets next season. They may also be looking for a coach as I have not heard whether or not Stricklin will return.

There was a rumor floating around during the 13th region tournament that John Smith would be the new head coach for Bell co. in 2008. However, haven't heard anything since. Would be a big lift for Bell, they probably will have the most talented team in the district next year.

 

Does anyone know about the new harlan school? Isn't that school opening this fall?

My understanding is that an asst. coach from another 13th region team will be coaching the Bobcats next year...........and Coach Greer recruited him.

Tonight at McCreary Co. the Bronco fans said that Rob Ledington has accepted the head coaching position at Bell next year. What a loss to the Redhounds. We will miss him!

Harlan County High School opens in the fall of '08.

I spoke with Coach Greer several weeks ago and he indicated to me, he was accepting an Administration position, within the system.

 

I wish him well and Coach L.

It is my understanding that Jessica will still teach and coach in Corbin and the kids will still attend Corbin schools. I wish Coach Ledington well, this is a big loss for Corbin baseball.:cry:

Coach Leddington is a baseball purist and will do a good job at Bell.
