  1. I agree that there aren't Families coming in like they use to. However, lets not take away from the Highlands teams that spanned from 1988-1993 pre Dale Mueller. Since everyone wants to base it on Dale stats only. The 89 State Champ team who were playing with as some say "All Ft Thomas Kids" only won One game as Freshman but were able to Win State as Seniors against a D1 loaded Paducah Tilghman. The 1992 team was also a "All Ft Thomas Kids" team that Won State again against a loaded PT team. Heck they beat arguably one of the best ever CCH teams in 1992 led by the one and only Adam McCormick. Listen there was a time that Highlands didn't rely on Families moving into town to make their Football program successful. So "All Ft Thomas Kids" can win. Now whether they want to put in the work or not to Win is another story. I'm not questioning the Time & Effort the Kids are putting in....All I'm saying just because you're wearing Highlands across your Chest doesn't mean things are going to come easy. I always tell my kids I coach, that's why there's 2 halves of Football. It doesn't matter how you start.....It's how you finish! I'm confident these boys will finish strong.....Go Birds!
  2. So the Highlands Freshman teams play CovCath the past 5 years to a One possession game and quite frankly could of Won of few of those only to be Manhandled at the Varsity level? What changes? So for people to say that the FTJFL isn't getting the Kids ready for Freshman or Varsity Football is Crazy. I watched the HHS/CCH game this past Thursday and it was almost the same game as years past but with HHS finally coming out on top.
  3. No this is somewhat incorrect..... FTJFL has 40 kids at the 7th grade level and 39 at the 8th grade level in 2019. That's roughly 20 kids per team at each level. Back in the old FTJFL enternal format they use to combine both 7th & 8th grade levels and divide into 4-teams with roughly 20 kids per team. So in theory we have just as many kids playing Football as Ryle does. We choose to divide our teams into 2-equally divided teams rather than have 18-20 kids ride the Pine and never see the field. We have 59 6th graders playing football in 2019 in Ft Thomas. So if we wanted to enter 3-7th grade teams into the Norseman Conference in 2020 we could. Not sure if we will do that but it is a option. So participation in Ft Thomas right now is okay. It's a good problem to have as we speak. That however could change overnight!
  4. All Cash baby! No credit card sales at the LBYC.....Lots of PVC pipe buried somewhere.:lol2:
  5. So is Cooper dressing Sophomores down at the Frosh level? I'm hearing this is the case. In any rate that's a Big Win for the Jags....
  6. I am 4 years older than my wife. Started dating in early 1989 and have been married since 1997. Never split! I just turned 50 last week. You do the Math....So yes it was frowned upon at the time but I like the way it turned out. It could of been Concrete boots for me back then with her Dad's presence in NKY. I just finished my 27th year of Employment for her Dad's company.:thumb:
  7. All I keep hearing is Camp Co. is really bad. Noway that program has fallen that quickly in just 1 year. Good luck to both teams!
  8. Wow! This will be a Culture shock for St Francis IMO!.....The street of Baltimore aren't the same as the streets of Cincinnati. Not even close! Good luck to both teams! This is a Interesting match up for sure.
  9. Sounds like the SCIT's got the Ball rolling last night in Independence. Special couple of Classes getting ready to Steamroll through starting with this one. If you haven't seen Highlands QB Charlie Noon play yet, you're in for a Treat. The Kid is Long, fast and has a very Big Arm! He is IMO one of the Top 5 players in his Age group across the Commonwealth. Go Birds!
  10. My brother @Sweeperboy was recruited and played QB for Coach Lucas at West Virgina Tech out of Highlands In 1982. Coach Lucas left after his Freshman year for Greenup Co. What a great Coach and even a better Man he was. RIP Coach!
  11. When Epps hit the game tying 3 in 1997 to send the game to OT against Arizona. That was the loudest event I have ever witnessed! It was crazy.....Watch it on Youtube. It's worth the search.
  12. Merril is a good dude. Knows his stuff about Football and Concussions. The one he took in Chicago that ended his Career was about as bad as it gets. He talks about it a lot about being rushed back too soon. It was a life changer for him for sure! He has overcome some substantial adversity throughout his life. He was almost killed as a boy on their Farm in Idaho. His hand was caught in a Farm Implement. And then his battle with Cancer. It's funny because his position coach in College at Idaho State was the one and only Marvin Lewis. LOL! Merril still resides in Ft Thomas even though his son Beau is at BYU. Merril has been in Ft Thomas for over 20 years.
  13. Cris Collinsworth.....Lives in Ft Thomas and his Wife's family and my Wife's family are long time Friends. Cris is a good Dude! Merril Hoge.....Coached alongside him for Two season in the FTJFL. He is also a friend. You have to get to know Merril before you judge. Solomon Wilcots....Good friend of Hoge's. What a great guy... Jared Lorenzen......My Guy! Just was a very close Buddy! Gosh I miss him already....
  14. Sanitation District #1.....I get it that I must pay to Flush my Toilet but if you own a Structure that is sitting Vacant they can still Bill you for Water runoff eventually going into the River.:banghead: Any Water that is going down your Downspouts and into the Storm sewer is Billable. Organized Crime!
  15. Indian Shores Beach are our Go to places. But the Deuce is correct. I could live in that area for sure. Indian Shores is just below the Clearwater area.
  16. Owned a 67 Pontiac Tempest Convertible with a 3 on the Tree! Fun car to drive.....
  17. Learned at the age of 14 driving through Villa Madonna's campus while hauling Garbage from the Bingo Set up and tear down we use to do.
  18. Watched him in person last year against Highlands. He makes throws that are out of this world. It would be a very nice pickup for Kentucky if they can land him.
  19. It's just not Shields & Listerman. Highlands has a Tates Creek alum in the Program too. They have stay pretty connected throughout the years.
