Sandman32......It's a shame that you have said out loud (again) what has been said all over town. Do you really think that the team is not aware of how the showed in the first two games? Are you sure that you're a Dixie fan or just another self proclaimed critic? I'm not sure if you have a son on the team or not but are you really sure that you know what the guys have been doing in the off season? IMO it takes a team, not just a few good men to make the team. If the leadership is lacking on the senior level than how do younger players step over to lead? Maybe in a perfect world of "fantasy football" that would work but in high school reality, its not going to happen without big problems. As for Dixie, they're doing just fine. True fans are fans to the end and encourage the team when things get tough, critics are a dime a dozen.

It's all good. Last year Dixie was seen as not much of a threat... a rebuilding year. First two "pre-season games" - lost. District Champs- Dixie. Being the underdogs...priceless! Remember good things come to those who wait...keep the faith guys. It may not seem like it, but you really do have a strong group who believes in you. Give CCh your best shot!

Someone made the comment that the parents should do something to make 4A better and what exactly would that be? Complain to the coaches...that will help the team...right? Do you really think that coaches listen to what parents think? If they did changes would occur much faster and kids on teams would be better sooner based on talent and not grade level... Maybe parents can see alittle better from the stands.... As for the guys on the team stepping up and being leaders...how do juniors and sophs step up to lead over seniors without causing a huge problem on the team? In a perfect world, leaders would emerge but in high school it's still the senior classman rule. Coaches select team captains based on grade level over leadership ability and than wonder why there is no leadership...If you are hand picked by a coach to be a leader and fail, where does the fault lie? What is the solution?:confused:

It is a shame that Dixie has taken on the toughest teams in the area (unlike some other schools) and has come out so slow. I know that the guys on the team are struggling with how to correct the problems. But I also know that the coaches are taking a toll on the team as well. Word is that they have lost all respect and confidence in their team. While I agree that there is a time for kicking your teams butt for lack of effort, there is also a time for motinvating them to be better through "positive reinforcement". Sometimes, an encouraging word can make the difference. As for the team, if the fans think that they aren't aware of the feelings of those around them (for example: fans and others telling them they look bad and constantly asking what is the problem?) maybe some support would go alittle furthter than unsolicted criticism. Dixie is a constant and they will make the adjustments and be just fine. Keep the faith guys and close your ears to the garbage that is flying all around you!:thumb:

The kid with the busted mouth had six butterfly's put on his mouth on the side lines and went back into the game! :eek: He finished out the night and than went to St. E's where he was stitched up for good! Talk about heart! :thumb: And people say Dixie looked weak!

Well, searching out who you would like on your team and making sure that it happens doesn't hurt either...

I hope that Conner players stay clear of this mess.... Highlands needs to pull back the bragging rights and consider that ALL players need to keep the dream alive and that on any given friday night, any thing is possible. I say, Go Conner! Don't listen to all the nonsense and be your own team! Good luck!

Tough to call...but I know the boys from DH were "embarassed" by their game on friday. It was very quiet back at the school lot as they all left. Lots of talk of what they should have done differently. I know they are a great team but it doesn't seem like there is the heart that there was last year. Hope it turns and our "TEAM" shows up! I still pick DH, I am a fan to the end!

Do we ever tire of hearing about HHS? They are outstanding in every area, just ask them. Just remember, even Goliath took a fall.........:eek: I know Dixie guys have worked hard and would like a little more respect...you know, Ryle and the three leading newspapers picked Ryle to win the District last year.......Sometimes its good to be seen as the underdog! :ylsuper: Go Dixie!

How big is this kid?

Dixie losing Gibson does not hurt terribly...you must have missed the numerous players that can do just what Gibson did. He came on in the end of the season and did make some big plays but I think Dixie will be just fine without him. I wish him luck and look forward to the Sk-Dixie game! Maybe another close one???

Yes nees1212, it was Shelby County and the qb for Dixie is Joe Bricking. He will be a junior this year and word is that he has been working on speed and increasing his overall size. Should be a good season for Dixie on their new field...we'll see!

When can a college approach a football player? I have heard of players as young as sophmores receiving letters. Is there a rule that is followed?
