Top linebackers this year.
Blake Bradley from Lawrence Co is one of the best in the state at OLB. I think he will be the best to ever play outside at LC who has a rich tradition. He's about 6'1 210 and athletic. Benches about 310. 3 year starter and very physical. Nice basketball player too.

Lawrence Co's Chandler Shepherd to UK
He did play football but I'm pretty sure those days are over. He was a great football player too. He almost beat Belfry at QB his Fresh year when they were so good and LC was down. He averaged about 12 yards a carry against them. LC had the lead late in the 4th and Chandler went out on a freak play from uneven field. Belfry got the lead and LC couldn't move the ball. He would probably be the top football player in Eastern KY this year. I've been around LC football for 20 years off and on. I think he could kick D1 with work and he was a big time WR. Great athlete that has worked hard to chase his dreams. Everybody is excited to see him come out on top after his bump in the road. As far as Pros I've had several friends drafted and a couple in the Pros. Most people don't understand how hard it is to get to the big leagues. There is little doubt in my mind if he keeps improving the way he has he's good enough to be drafted. After that it takes tons of work and some luck. I think he has the potential to get to the bigs one day but I also know how tough that road is so it's one step at a time.

Lawrence Co's Chandler Shepherd to UK
Shep verbaled yesterday to UK. Such a great story. He pitched in the Regional Championship 8th, 9th and 10th grade. He pitched in the state tourny 9th + 10th grade including a shutout. He broke the state consecutive scoreless inning record his 9-10th grade years. While pitching summer ball at Midland in Cincy after 10th grade he had to have Tommy John. He was able to bat at LC this year where he hit over 500 I think with around 10 HR's and was the Regional player of the year at DH. It's been a long battle back but he's throwing well this summer. His team is in the Connie Mack World Series out in New Mexico this week. Chandler will be a SR at Lawrence Co this coming year. Really proud of him and the adversity he has overcome in hopes of chasing his dreams!

Bell County Football (Urgent!!)
We can feel your pain at Lawrence Co. They let the best basketball coach in the history of the school and the most influential coach of men I've ever been around walk. I've probably won as many games as a player/coach as anybody ever there and still haven't been paid for last year. I wouldn't care that much if I didn't feel like I've robbed my two little kids. It's sad that there is a lack of support in places where people love their kids/schools. For what it's worth I got to spend some time with a friend who took a job with the state last year. He's pretty high up and left a nice job. It is driving him nuts working in Frankfort seeing how things actually opporate. Unfortunatly the whole country is in a pinch. KY is in a bigger pinch. Our part of KY is in an even bigger pinch. Polaticians preach education then get in office and make class sizes bigger expecting results. It's all a joke. I feel like Bell is preseason top 2 in the state. It's too bad if you all aren't getting support there. I was able to spend the week down there for the Mountain Laural festival when my girlfriend in college was in it. Great people and a lot of passion from the small town there/Pineville. I wish you all the best of luck in getting some support.

North-Eastern Kentucky East-West Senior Bowl - East 27 West 12
I got to coach the defense for the East. They played well. 20 yds rushing 3 int's 2 fumbles (1 recovered). It was one of the most challenging but one of the most fun games I ever coached. Thanks to Tom Posey for putting it on for the kids. I wish people could have seen how great the kids bonded all week long. No egos just enjoying each other and the chance to play one last time. Coach Salmons dad cooked for the kids Thurs and there wasn't one kid I saw not using manners etc. I wanted to get on here to say that the MVP was supposed to have gone to Russell LBer Kameron Smith. There was a mix up between nicknames and real names. We were able to laugh it off and share a good story 20 years down the road. He will be getting his MVP plaque/trophy soon. He sure showed the hops when he went up and got his int. He was asking to take film home this week and was a great leader getting guys lined up etc. Great game. Both teams played hard. Ram is was great meeting you. You had walked up right when my dad and nephew walked up that's who I was talking too. Hope to see you again down the road.

Martha Layne Collins 2010
They should be a powerhouse for years to come. Shelby West traditionally has some really really good athletes.

Vanderhoof resigns at Raceland
If true I wish him the best of luck. He was Raceland's baseball coach back when I played ball in the early 90's. He's done an outstanding job at Raceland and ran a great program not only on the field but off the field too. I hope TJ gets his shot there if he wants it. Raceland has had one of the better staffs in this part of the state for some time IMO.

Roy Walton Passes at 80 year of age
My wife was a Tates Creek grad and she said he really did a lot outside of football for the kids including going out of his way to help the special needs kids.

Bell County 2010
Pre season top two IMO. Argument can be made for #1. Going to be several good teams in that Region.

Grant County 2010
Coach Davis is a good man and has done a nice job developing the total program there. I know a couple of years ago I worked an NFLPD camp in Lexington and they had a slew of middle school kids they brought in for the camp.

Texas high school to build $60 Million stadium
That's amazing! I talked to the youngest coach in the biggest divsion in Texas one time. He thought he was the lowest paid and was right around 6 figures. He also said that the football office had it's own phone and the Principal had to call before anybody came over and disturbed them. It's a way of life down there. I thought it would be South Lake Carrol before I clicked on the link. I coached with a guy that had coached in Texas, Nebraska, Mizzo and KY. He said the pressure in Texas was as tough as you could imagine.

North Oldham's Alex Miller
Congrats to Alex!

College Prospects - Offensive and Defensive Linemen
Tyler Combs from Lawrence Co. He's only a Soph will be a Jr. Here's a little insert from last years offense/defense camps. He went to one and kept getting invited to more finishing I think at Myrtle Beach. Pretty sure he might have been the only Soph lineman there. Here's a link from last summer after his Fresh year going into his Soph year from that camp. It's about the 7th little type up down the page: http://hsfootballtalk.com/index.php?page=22

Rowan County 2010
Their trio of Cross/Wing/Hodge might be as good as there is in Eastern KY. Cross is probably one of the most underrated athletes in the state and should get some Mr. Football hype IMO. Wing is a nice QB with good size to go with it. They have a very talented football team this year and are well coached.

Danville Coaching Situation
I think with what Harp has done for Danville he should go when he feels like going. He's had a career many dream of!

Completely Meaningless Top 25 Preseason Poll
I agree he is a rare kid that you can almost chalk up a win when he is on the mound no matter who you are playing. I've seen a lot of good teams at LC in the past 25 or so years. Even without him on the mound they are going to be really good I think. ZERO doubt he is a difference maker. They have had better but I think they are going to be a special group. They still have a couple of nice pitchers. Should be REALLY good on defense. Some nice bats with kids like Pack, Shep, Miller along with guys that have been there in Mills, Banks etc.

Maxpreps Pre-Season Coaches Poll
Keep an eye on Lawrence Co again this year. They are once again loaded!

Completely Meaningless Top 25 Preseason Poll
I'll go on record that I think Lawrence Co will go back to Applebee's for the 3rd time in 4 years. If Shep could pitch then they are top 5 IMO. They are going to be really good again IMO.
