  1. You're probably right. I was just trying to find something positive in the district.
  2. Villa is definitely near the bottom. Lloyd and Ludlow vary from year to year. Dixie will be one of the better teams in the region this year. The other 3 will just be trying to get the #2 spot at regionals with a probable first game exit.
  3. Weakest district in the region.
  4. And good point to you on small number of kids. If I had to pick my 12 players, and only 14 tried out, I would probably handle it differently. Email is just plain wrong. In the above case, I think the call to home would be fine. I think posting a list is a bad idea unless you have at least twice as many people trying out as there are positions available.
  5. I picked Have group together and call out the names of the ones who made the team because, while it may seem heartless and uncaring, I would personally rather be cut as a group than in some secret meeting, like the coach was embarassed for us. When you announce who made the team, you're saying who the best players are. When you have private meetings on who was cut, it becomes your personal failure. Besides, everyone is going to know you didn't make the team anyway.
  6. I hope Scott at least represents themselves well.
  7. Covington Central Catholic??? Also noticed the passing leaders: Passing 1. Alex Carson, Sr., Hatch Valley (N.M.), 594 2. Corey Robinson, Sr., Lone Oak (Paducah, Ky.), 463 Congrats Tigers for finally getting the recognition that you deserve.
  8. Height is 6'2". Not sure about his weight.
  9. Does your decision on who will win change if Cox can't play?
  10. All I know is that Mason County had to start Neal Pawshat, a freshman, against Greenup County.
  11. The Reds played in the Mud Bowl? :creepy: Man, they must have been really good!
  12. There's a little bit of Homer in all of us, but 9 votes for Scott??? Seriously.... Highlands won it all in '75.
  13. "I will now fart the Star Spangled Banner."
  14. You and me both. But it was probably a bigger jump for me.
  15. Is this also the rule in NCAA and NFL? It really seems to put the kicking team at an unfair disadvantage.
  16. It seems a bit of overkill to strip a state title because of the paperwork. The kid transferred from Florida, not Calloway County.
  17. My reading of 9-4-5 says it may not be a roughing the kicker penalty. This is a rule that requires a lot of judgement on behalf of the referees. Touching of the kicked ball by a player does open the door for subsequent contact with the kicker to be ruled legal when such contact with the kicker when the ball is not touched would always be considered running into or roughing, but the touching of the kicked ball does not mean that all subsequent contact with the kicker is legal.
  18. Wouldn't they be violating the scrimmage rule or number of games played rules if they play their starters in a JV game?
  19. The center of population in Kentucky is in Willisburg, KY in Washington County, about 20 miles north of Lebanon. Closest large population center would be Lexington, just 45 miles away. Bowling Green is almost 2 hours from the population center.
  20. 7...Holmes 5...Dixie Heights 3...Boone County 2...Scott 1...NewCath TB Holmes
  21. Could you please keep the family of Dunbar Assistant Football Coach Steve Sharpe in your prayers? His uncle was killed in a head-on collision in Casey Co. yesterday. Needless to say, the next few days are going to be especially tough for the family.
  22. 7 - Scott 5 - Ryle 3 - NCC 2 - Bellevue 1 - Grant TB Scott
  23. That's what I thought.
