Who wins and why?

Despite West's big win Friday & Mason "hanging on", I still think Mason Co. wins by 2 TD's. I just think they have better athletes, & are too strong. I think they took greenup Co. lightly, & I think their coaching staff we have them refocused next week. Now it's one & done...

I'm gonna call the shocker. I look for Mason to go down. Team and staff have not responded well to the Russell loss. I know their QB was out last night....but that doesn't explain their anemic defensive performance. West Carter in the upset.

Gosh I hope your right. That would be wonderful, West has never won a playoff game. But, Cerebral assasisin, while Mason is definitely quicker, West isn't exactly weak, if you were referring to strength. I feel they have one of the better defensive lines around, and at linebacker Puckett and Carroll will lay the wood. I think Puckett has only been there since the East game, but he's probably been the leading tackler for West since then. Mason is a tough team, and should be favored, but, a few turnovers and it could be anyones game. Unlike week 3, West cannot give up if Mason takes the lead. They need to remeber that the game is 4 quarters, and for the seniors the next loss will be their last, no matter when it happens. Good luck to both teams.

Based on what? Winning their last 2 games? True, many of us thought they'd beat Fleming and Greenup by 2 or 3 TDs, but hey, they won. You're right about the defense, they haven't stepped up and played to the potential they can... yet. I look to see a determined, hard-nosed defense Friday night.

Oh, and Cox (the starting QB) is also a major force on defense, so that had a little something to do with the 'anemic defensive performance', IMO.

 

And you're right about it being an upset considering Mason beat West 62-14 in their first meeting.:thumb:

I think West could definitely pull the upset if they keep Mason's offense off the field. However, I have to go with Mason 35-27.

Mason County was coming off a very emotional game against Russell, playing on the road without their starting QB, against an improving Greenup County team. Mason County still came away with the win. I look for the Royals to win big again against West Carter.

I think West can play very well, but have not been consistent. If they can practice ball control and turn in a complete performance, they very well could win.

I think anyone can win on any given night but what facets of West's game has changed so dramatically that Mr. Eastwood would call for the upset. I just wondered what specifically you or the Outlaw thought would turn the score in West's favor from 62-14 first meeting. By the way, unless you just drop the ball or throw a pass right into the chest of a defensive player turnovers are usually CAUSED by the defense!!!(Hit, Pick, Strip, Batted ball, Pressure on the QB, blocked field goal, stop on 4th down, etc.,etc.,etc.:confused:

2. The Comets seem to be more confident with some big wins under their belt.

 

3. Mason's QB didn't play last week. Will he play against West?

 

4. Mason by all means played better than West in the first game, but the Comets didn't have the ball hardly the whole 3rd qtr. Mason recovered a bunch of kickoffs. West is definetly best when they control the tempo by being on offense.

 

Mason may have more talented players, but if West Carter can hog the ball on offense and not give up 30 points I think the Comets could win.

No disrespect to Raceland, but they are a 6-4 1A team. They are an upper crust 1A team but I don't see how that 1 win makes a 48 point swing in your favor. I don't know if the QB will be playing or not. Could you explain the big wins(#2 on your list)??? And could you explain to me why you didn't have the ball the third quarter(#3 on your list)? How will West stay on offense?

Closer meeting than the first game, but Mason should stll take care of business based on shear athleticism alone.
