  1. Why? I'd let the father attend if it happened to him.
  2. I would let her attend. I also think the registration of sex offenders has gotten way out of hand.
  3. For the most part, keep them in your lap. But there's nothing wrong with talking with your hands. Keeping them in your lap too much makes you look robotic. Too much animation makes you look like you're on speed. Use your normal gestures, well maybe not that one, but the others should be okay. Stay relaxed and you should be fine. And don't put your hands in your pockets!
  4. Speak with confidence, but don't make yourself "comfortable". Firm handshake to start, don't sit before the interviewer does. Stay forward and alert in your seat. Don't BS the interviewer. Don't pad your stats. Ask questions about the job, even if you know all there is to know. Always, always, always stay excited about the job. If the interviewer says you'll have to clean latrines, come back with "Of course. We (not you) have to have clean and well maintained facilities for our guests. Otherwise, we won't have any guests!" Listen closely to the interviewer. That way you'll be able to pick up what's important to him. In preparation, think of every question that you would hate to be asked during an interview, then figure out an answer to it. If asked what your weaknesses are, have something ready that may seem like a weakness but actually makes you a stronger candidate. Like, "I don't like to be stuck in the same routine. I'd rather be out working on different things and working outside." Know what your job will entail. If you get one of those interviewers who are more interested in talking than listening, you'll be in trouble unless your redirect his speech. Find a way to insert how you would see yourself involved in what he's talking about. This is not easy and somewhat dangerous, but otherwise, you have no way of distinguishing yourself from every other candidate who sat there and listened to the interviewer ramble. Good Luck!
  5. Labor Union to Obama: Fire Bank of America CEO Wednesday, April 01, 2009 By Susan Jones, Senior Editor (CNSNews.com) – President Barack Obama forced the ouster of the General Motors chairman, and now he must fire the Bank of America CEO, a labor union insists. The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is circulating an online petition, telling Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner to get rid of Ken Lewis. http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=45951
  6. The executives brought up repaying the government for capital doled out under the $700 billion Troubled Asset Relief Program. The bailouts have been increasingly unpopular with voters, and the administration has tightened rules on executive compensation for institutions that got the funds. “Tarp was a big concern around the table,” Fine said. “What is the exit strategy for all of this going forward? What are some of the long-range goals?” Many of the executives said repaying the money would aid public perceptions of financial institutions, Yingling said “They thought it would send a very positive signal to the public to see institutions paying it back, to understand that the money was not only being paid back, but was being paid back with a good return to the public,” Yingling said. One person in the room said some of the participants expressed concern that a rapid repayment of TARP funds might be perceived as an attempt to get out from under compensation restrictions. Obama told the executives that banks shouldn’t return the money until they have adequate capital, so as not to hinder their ability to lend money, according to Yingling. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&refer=home&sid=aDw0_06pEvLE
  7. Why a deadline? Is there other pressing business for the Wildcats this week?
  8. Now if you had said Barney Frank and Jim Kolbe were like two peas in a pod, I might have agreed with you. :sssh:
  9. #2 Kentucky basketball coach Much like all Alabama football coaches after Bear Bryant, UK basketball coaches are judged by the standards set by Adolph Rupp, who won 876 games and four national titles in 42 years with the Wildcats. It's much harder to win consistently these days, but don't try telling that to Kentucky fans. Only Rick Pitino (pictured) has truly made them happy, but he's now coaching across the state in Louisville, which only makes things tougher. Just ask Tubby Smith and Billy Gillispie. http://msn.foxsports.com/cbk/pgStory?contentId=9399090&MSNHPHCP&GT1=39002#sport=COLLEGE
  10. Labor Unions - a necessary evil in order to give the working man safe working conditions and a fair wage. They would be much more helpful if they worked with business instead of against it. Medicad - if you're disabled, Medicaid is a must. I'm against it for most others. Medicare/Social Security - When Social Security was established in 1934, it was never intended to be a retirement fund for the masses. In fact, the retirement age of the act was higher than the average mortality age. The act was an attempt to limit what were seen as dangers in the modern American life, including old age, poverty, unemployment, and the burdens of widows and fatherless children.
  11. I no more want Muslims in Obama's than I would have wanted Catholics in Ferdinand and Isabella's court.
  12. HIS 4245: A History of European Socialism The European Origins of Socialist Thought, 1789-1917 Professor Steven Kreis Florida Atlantic University, Davie Fall 1995 Not every term we use is a direct attack on the left. Some of them are real, even if you haven't heard of them.
  13. I think that there are far less lemmings now than there were in November. Much of the population is very unhappy with the government's handling of the CRISIS (emphasis added by Obama administration.) And yes, Bush and Paulson are reponsible for getting this snowball rolling.
  14. I at first bristled at this. But as Clyde pointed out, Wagoner has done nothing to improve the situation at GM. He's more or less continued on the same path. And again as Clyde and others stated, GM could have turned the money down. Am I correct in that if Chrysler completes its merger with Fiat, the US Government with give them financial aid?

  16. I don't like to get a lot of childish news stories, so I asked for Adult Content Only. Miagi Salon
  17. I had no problem with his Special Olympics comment. But I do think that the Jay Leno Show is not the proper forum for the POTUS.
  18. TRENTON, N.J. - New Jersey is drawing the line when it comes to bikini waxing. The state Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling is moving toward a ban on genital waxing after two women reported being injured in their quest for a smooth bikini line. Both women were hospitalized for infections following so-called "Brazilian" bikini waxes; one of the women has filed a lawsuit, according to Jeff Lamm, a spokesman for New Jersey's Division of Consumer Affairs, which oversees the cosmetology board. http://www.nydailynews.com/lifestyle/health/2009/03/19/2009-03-19_bikini_wax_ban_new_jersey_considers_ban_.html
