  2. I wonder which Brossart would choose if their choice was KHSAA State Champs or All "A" Classic Champs. The All "A" is a great, great accomplishment, but it's not a state championship.
  3. For Holmes, it has to be Jefferson. I'm not sure what underclassmen they have to fill in at QB.
  4. My intention was not to belittle the winner of the All "A" Classic but to point out how ridiculous it is to say that it would give a team an advantage in the Sweet 16. Like State Duals, it is a great accomplishment to win the All "A", but it has absolutely no bearing on who becomes the official state champion.
  5. Wow. For the record, their's only one state tournament and that's the one that starts with district playoffs and leads to the Sweet 16. We go through this same argument in wrestling. The State Duels champion is no more an official state champ than the All A champ.
  6. They beat St. X by 1 and Elder by 2. St. X is 13-3, Elder 13-1. They spent the week between Christmas and New Years in Arizona, but I don't think the competition was that spectacular. I think the only serious competition we'll see Big Moe play is maybe a state final with Lakewood St. Edwards.
  7. I agree with this. It's a sport for professionals. For most everyone else, its a hobby.
  8. BONA FIDE CHANGE IN RESIDENCE - If there has been a bona fide change in residence by the parents and student that precedes a student’s change of schools. For purposes of this bylaw, a bonafide change of residence means the moving permanent residence of the entire family of the student and his/her parents from one school district or defined school attendance area into another school district or defined school attendance area prior to a change in enrollment of the student. A student who becomes emancipated does not have a bona fide change of residence by virtue of his/her emancipation and change of residence for purposes of this bylaw. I'm not sure how they define "defined school attendance area."
  9. So does croquet. I'm undecided.
  10. Just to straighten out the mess I started, 8th graders cannont play varsity soccer or football. 6th graders can't participate in varsity wrestling. Sorry for the confusion.
  11. Aren't 8th graders blocked from playing varsity football and basketball?
  12. So would a blocked shot that ends up in the backcourt and collected by Team A be considered a try and not a backcourt violation?
  13. So, what do you do for soccer games?
  14. Do the turf fields come prepainted?
  15. What's the life of a turf field? I was think 10 years, but Field Turf's warranty is only good for 8 years. If it can objectively be justified that at worst it's a break even deal, I can along with that. I'll even forget that the injury rate on turf is claimed to be higher than on natural grass. My big issue is when we continue to claim that our schools need more money for the education of our children, I believe spending education dollars on sports facilities is a bad idea.
  16. Of course! But I just don't see that happening without the use of new math. I mean, we are talking about a half million dollars. Absolutely. If people want the school to have a turf field that badly, they will raise the money either privately or thorugh grants from companies.
  17. I think the turf is great, but I'm against it ever being paid for with any kind of tax money.
  18. I agree. Holmes may be considered a tough school by Northern Kentucky standards, but by Cincinnati Public School standadards, I'd give them an average.
  19. What was the result? Pin? Decision? What was the score? Has he wrestled Winter from Dunbar yet?
  20. When its that cold, can you smell anything? Maybe the guy was hanging out in the bathroom to keep warm.
  21. I don't think they've ever experienced suspension before. In the past, they could always blame there problems on others.
  22. I believe that if a college pulls a scholarship without just cause, they should have to pay for the kid's scholarship elsewhere.
  23. I think if I'm Henly, I give my bullpups lots of playing time until districts. I think this helps their bench and also may help the studs keep their egos in check. What's really good to hear is that it sounds like the studs may finally be understanding what TEAM means. And it sounds like the Bullpups did a great job against the Colonels. Better than I expected, makes me proud!
  24. They need someone who will kick butt and take names.
