  1. Huge win for the Colonels:thumb:
  2. He had my vote, not so sure now. It is too late to flip the ticket and put Weld at the top? He does not seem to partake in the same herbal medicine as Johnson, at least not right before he goes on TV or radio.:scared:
  3. I agree. Central is better than the #7 ranked 5A team in my opinion, so I wouldn't count them out just yet. Their schedule is pretty brutal.
  4. I had no problem with Corbin going for 2 and the lead. If it went into OT, and there is no guarantee that it would with Mayfield getting the ball with 4 minutes to play, Mayfield had obviously been much better offensively and would be hard to stop in OT. Corbin's history of being on the bad side of failed point conversions goes back to the 1977 state final against Mayfield. Corbin scored to close within 1 point with under a minute to play, decided to go for 2 and came up about 6 inches short. They also had the failed 2 pt conversion at the end of the semifinal game against Owensboro Cath. ,again the following year against DeSales in the 3rd OT and also in the playoffs against Larue Co. a few years back.
  5. Corbin's defense stepped up and played well in the second half, they were way too timid in the first half. The offense struggled until the 4th qtr. and really need to clean it up by playoff time. The Corbin offense is not built to overcome all the penalties and turnovers that happened tonight and were fortunate that Mayfield struggled in their punting game, which enabled them to hang around long enough to make a game of it. Congrats to Mayfield on the win and hats off to the Corbin kids for fighting through a tough night when they could have just thrown in the towel.
  6. It's Belfry.............................and then everyone else in 3A.
  7. Back to reality for the Hounds. It's going to be a long bus ride home.
  8. I agree, that's why they seem to be State Champs year after year. When things that usually work don't, it tends to cause confusion and frustration.
  9. Corbin's defense is looking tired. If the OL keeps getting whipped in the second half like they have been so far, look for a running clock before this one is over. Corbin looks confused and on their heels, kind of reminds me of a couple of outings from last year.
  10. He's actually the back up punter, plus he's the backup QB, not sure why the regular punter is not playing.
  11. Corbin's defense is struggling with the Cardinal offense. If they don't figure something out soon, they are in trouble. Corbin won't win if it's a offensive shootout.
  12. You're right, linebacker play as a whole has been very good this year. Evans and Davis have played very well and have created a lot of pressure on the QB from the DL, but Sims is the one who has really surprised me with the way he has played.
  13. No, Belfry should stay at the top regardless of this weekend. They are the best team by far in 3A and arguably one of the top 5 or so in all classes. Corbin has played and beaten some very good teams in the past, including ending a very long Highlands winning streak and defeating Louisville Flaget when they were considered the best team in the state.
  14. Corbin is small on the defensive line, linebackers are average to small in size and the DB's are average size wise. They are quick and fly to the ball though. The offensive line has pretty good size, RB's are small, WR's are average and the QB is big. Danville has a good passing game.
  15. Corbin 7, Mayfield 0 sounds good to me...
  16. I'm not feeling very confident about this game and expect the Hounds to experience their first defeat of the season tonight. I believe that Southwestern's size and strength up front, along with a special teams TD from the Warriors will get the W for the home team.
  17. Somerset paid Corbin back the next year by beating what I believe was one of the 2 or 3 best Corbin teams ever. Corbin was undefeated and ranked #1 going into Somerset that night, but left a 7-6 loser and didn't make the playoffs despite that being their only loss. Corbin had 4-5 kids who went on to play either Div 1 or Div 1AA on that team, and if I'm not mistaken, so did Somerset.
  18. This is Greer's third year on the staff and Mills just came on board this fall after Bell Co. let him go.
  19. I wonder if Trinity and Male could hang with Belfry.
  20. You never know about high school kids though. It's hard to play with the same effort and emotion every week. Corbin felt like they had something to prove this week after Danville handled them pretty easily at home last year, so the SW game could be a little of a trap game with Mayfield lurking the next week. Corbin has an experienced staff with Haddix, Tommy Greer and Wayne Mills who may be able to get them to put this win behind them and get focused on the next game though.
  21. Corbin's defense is legit and are very quick to the ball. I'm interested to see how they fare against Southwestern next week, a team that is usually big and strong up front. The snap problem will throw the timing of an offense off, Corbin struggled with the same problem last year. I'm sure the Ads will correct it and I expect them to make a good playoff run this year. This was obviously a big road win over a very good Danville team, who didn't play quite up to their potential, but I'm sure the Hounds were part of that equation as well.
  22. Did you make a stop at the Rootbeer Stand when you were by there?
  23. Tony Pietrowski made it as a player and as the head coach at Corbin.
