  1. Great job by Greenup County. I know you'll represent the 16th region well.
  2. I guess what I am saying, regardless what happened earlier in the season, I saw Fairview 3 games and Ashland like 4 games. Ashland was no doubt the better team.
  3. Well the Fairview team I saw a week before districts made like 6 or 7 errors per game three straight games. Seemed very undisciplined at the plate and in the field.
  4. Who didn't have them coming out of the districts? Fairview nor Rose Hill were good enough to beat them. I was actually surprised to see Fairview even stayed in the game with them.
  5. According to Baseball America, Kentucky has three high school players projected to get drafted. Ben Revere, OF, Lexington Catholic is projected at #135. That's a top 5 rounder. James Caldwell C/OF, Also Lexington Catholic and Gabriel Shaw RHP, St Marys in Paducah are also projected but they only number the top 200 prospects. There are seven others from Kentucky, but they are all College guys. The only other top 200 is Trystan Magnuson, Closer for Louisville ranked #199.
  6. Pretty solid team, but I believe they got shutdown in the opening game of districts that year in a 9-1 loss to Russell. They also had LC (Lonnie Campbell)
  7. The teams in the 16th have been so up and down, none of this surprises me.
  8. LongtimeCoach, Just a suggestion, but you need to be very careful with your comments. Attached is Rule #4 of BGP. 4. No school-specific (or general) recruiting comments or allegations of KHSAA rules violations by any school, coach, player or booster are allowed. No talking about where any player lives, has lived, or where they are from in a recruiting context. This is not the place to report KHSAA violations. Feel free to contact http://www.khsaa.org to report such violations, but do not discuss violations here.
  9. Here is the difference between this years Boyd County team and the teams the last couple years. Raceland committed around 5 errors and still manages to pull out a win. In years past, making 4 or 5 errors would have got you a 10-0 loss in 5 innings at Boyd County.
  10. If it hit him while he was in th strike zone its a strike dead ball, runner returns to 3rd. Just like if a batter is leaning across the plate and gets hit, that also is a strike, dead ball.
  11. An easy way to understand this would be...the kid slides across home plate and the pitcher beans the batter..dead ball, runner returns to third.
  12. Congratulations Justin. I truely enjoy watching you play baseball. Looking forward to seeing you play this summer. Marietta has just got a great baseball player and young man.
  13. Thanks STRIKE3. The web site may be more current than my print edition. I just got it yesterday.
  14. Lexington Cathoilc baseball team is ranked 6th in the nation by this weeks Collegiate Baseball magazine. Very nice to see a Kentucky team ranked that high.
  15. Not taking anything away from the Tomcats, but I keep hearing the youth of this team being brought up. They start a senior at 3B, a Senior at SS, a senior at 2B and at least one senior in the OF. 50% of the position players being seniors does not classify this as a young team to me.
  16. I still say this region is probably more of a toss up this year than in the years past. Boyd County is a notch above the rest, but apparently beatable as Ashland and Russell have shown.
  17. I'd be interested to know who pitched for Russell as well. Did either team make errors?
  18. Raceland DID NOT out hit Russell 13-4. Try 11-7. That is what the official book says. And You know who keeps that book. Pretty unbias guy in my opinion.
  19. The thing about the 16th, other than Boyd Co that I've noticed this year is they seem to be very inconsistent. I'll just use Ashland, Russell and Raceland as examples. Raceland has lost to Russell twice, Russell has lost to Ashland twice...Does that mean Ashland should be ranked 3rd? No, not what I am saying...It appears that these teams do not show up everyday. I've seen all three of the teams above look like Regional contenders one day and then look very much like a JV team the next.... Anybody else see it?
  20. Actually it was 11 hits to 6 hits. Russell had 4 hits going into the 6th and lead off with a single and a double. Plus Raceland batted 7 times and Russell batted 6.
  21. Final. Game played at Russell. Raceland pitched Scott Grizzle. He pitched a complete game for Raceland. Russell pitched Mike Dillon (SO). His first varsity start. He threw 6 innings and Eric Conley came in to relieve. Very Good ballgame.
  22. I will ask a question. Are they successful because they are having fun? Or are they having fun because they are successful?
  23. However, I just looked at the KHSAA website and they report Russell winning 4-0. But that's not what the scoreboard showed around 6:30. Maybe the JV played first and I saw that score.
  24. Last I saw it was 5-3 Russell in the 3rd inning. Anyone know how it finished?
  25. How did Vickars and Petrino do on Defense?
