  1. Anyone with Details on this? Iknow there is three games at Russell tonight. I think Ashland plays in the first one (Maybe against Lewis) at 5:30. Not sure about the other two games. but I think Russell plays in the last game.
  2. Don't know about the Meet the Devils scrimage, but the Russell girls are hosting the Panorama tonight. 3 games I believe. First game starts at 5:30. All I know is Ashland plays at 5:30 and Russell plays the last game I believe.
  3. This is purely a coach issue. Actually a Leadership issue. People will do what you let them do and what they have seen others do before them. If as a leader, you are consistent and fair you will gain the trust and respect that is needed to lead any organization or in this case team. So how do you handle it? Like a leader. You begin each year by expressing your expectations and your dos and don'ts and the consequences for misconduct. Then when someone breaks a team rule, you follow thru with what you said you would do regardless of the talent. Sure you and the team take one in the chin during that instance, but your reputation of not allowing sub standard conduct will carry with you and possibly keep it from happening in the future. The key is the respect. Once you earn the respect alot of these conduct type issues won't happen.
  4. 5 minutes left in the 1st half.... Russell 34, West Carter 3
  5. Scored more points. You can get all the yardage in the world between the 20's but if you can't put it in the endzone, you'll lose. Twice, I saw BC's offense struggle inside the 20. Short field helps the defense against that spread offense.
  6. Truth of the matter is that Kidwell had paid his dues and should have gotten the job last time.
  7. Lewis County's defensive speed made it very difficult on Russell. Any news on the injured Lewis County player? He hit pretty hard on his wrist. I believe his last name was Smith. #11. Best wishes to him and I hope he recovers.
  8. We can't forget Lonnie Brumfield in the 16th. Very Consistent.
  9. By far the two best players on the team.
  10. I can't recall ever seeing Duck hack on Russell. Generally, it's quite the opposite.
  11. So you're saying Russell wins 26-25?
  12. Congrats Jessica. I'm really glad to see she's doing well.
  13. People will watch a 66-63 loss. That's an entertaining game. Much more than when they play slow down basketball and score 21 points.
  14. Final. Both Teams played very hard. Russell lead the way through the first half and went into the locker room with a 5 point lead. Ashland opened up the second half with a 10-0 run. Russell battled back and had the lead by 3 at the end of the 3rd qtr. 4th quarter was a battle and was tied with a couple minutes left. when it came down to free throws, Ashland made them, Russell didn't.
  15. This game is being played tonight at Russell. Ashland is undefeated and Russell with only one loss is playing very good basketball. It should be a dandy. Any thoughts?
  16. Very nice game played by the Lady Devils. Defensive gem. Kayla Parsley with another double double. Should be a dandy tonight at Russell with the Kittens.
  17. Congrats to Coach Kidwell on his 100th victory has the Russell Head Coach!!!
  18. Russell has 2 and is still in the hunt for their 3rd. Russell has one as a 3A team and one as a 2A team. Almost had their third last year.
  19. The 1982 Breathitt County team was undefeated and ranked number one in the state when they came to Russell.
  20. Russell by a bunch. 41-8 This group of Russell seniors (those that played as freshman) have been on Russell teams that are 49-5 over the last 4 years. They've played 10 playoff games in the last two seasons. That is just like an extra season. I'm not trying to make a particular point, just noting a point about the playoff experience.
  21. I think Spindoc was just saying he played in the Kiwanis Bowl game. But not the first one between Russell and Ashland. I think he played when Coles and Putnam were the participants. And yes Spindoc, that was a hundred years ago.....
  22. I know that was just in fun and all, but I have always wanted a game of the week played on Saturday. AD's could get together at the beginning of the season to decide. There has been a lot of times I would have liked to watch another game, but since they are all on Friday night, I have to make a choice. How many more people would come to this game if it was on Saturday afternoon? And yes it would generate more money, but I was thinking simply as a fan of High School Football. I would go to the annual Ashland/Boyd County game if it was played on Saturday. Try to give all the local schools at least one Saturday game to balance it out. I'm sure it could be worked out. But then again, I'm sure somebody would find something to complain about. Just a thought.
  23. Glad to hear Coach Moore has them going in the right direction, but I think the Freshmen Tomcats may have way too much for them this year. The Kiwanis Bowl is a great atmosphere and I was lucky enough to play in the first Kiwanis Bowl game between Russell and Ashland.
  24. In my opinion, this is a bigger game for Raceland than Russell. If Russell wins, it's just another win preparing for the play-offs, If Raceland wins it gives them a big step towards being a local power and bragging rights over Russell which Raceland dreams about. Anyone else see the irony of Tyler Jones at Quarterback during this game?
