What are everyones thoughts on this matchup? Russell is 0-7, and Ashland has lost 1 game, not sure of their record though. All that I know is that Russell got blown out by Greenup, and Ashland beat Greenup in a thriller. As everyone knows, you can throw out each teams record, cause this one will be a good game. That being said, I think Ashland it too much for the young Red Devils.

Ashland Freshman have too much for the freshman Red Devils. Tomcats should cruise through this one but you never know. I hope its a good game.

Russell is lead by first year head coach Shawn Moore. His mini-Devils squad has struggled through the season, trying to perfect the wing-T system while playing the likes of Ironton, Wheelersburg, and Wayne, WV. The frosh are not deep nor extremely skilled, but Coach Moore has them going in the right direction at the end of the season (despite their 0-7 mark). I look for a good game here, though I feel that the Tomcat faithful can taste the Kiwanis Bowl trophy heading back to Ashland this season after a 3 year hiatus in the hallowed halls of Henry R. Evans.

I didn't know Steve Hicks had stepped down as Freshman coach. I posted in an earlier thread that Russell's coach was an Ashland boy. I messed that one up.

They are 7-1, with their one loss being at Wayne, WV. They lost 28-26 due to missing a two point conversion with no time left on the clock.

This is always a really fun night. If you have never attended a Kiwanis Bowl, I highly recommend it. Ashland has a very strong freshman group. They have 2-3 nice running backs, #25 (Not sure of his name, but very very good. Reminds me of Chris Hutt) #24 Harley Davis (I think is his name) and Dylan Delaney #10. QB is Chris Johnson, younger brother of former Tomcat FB Matt Johnson. The line is very big and physical, I think there are a couple 300 lb. er's. Hopefully we can pull out our first win in 3 years.

Ashland wins this game, they should easily get everyone playing time in this game, if not for 2 plays GCHS frosh would still be unbeaten, good luck little Tomcat's. :flame: The Devil's.
