Merl Kidwell wanted it the last time it came open....would he get it this time?

Merle Kidwell would be the best and most logical choice to take the reigns of the Red Devils.

Hopefully, the powers will recognize Coach Kid, and give him the job.

He is the panacea to the ills with the hoops program.

I have heard his name a couple of times from different people along with some others that have been passed over from down the road on Route 23.

Kidwell is a great choice, then you will have Sutton as an asstiant.

If the rumor is true, I think Merle would be a fantastic choice for the job. I think he's a very good coach and he knows the game well. Kidwell would do a fine job if hired.

Coach Kidwell would be my choice from the names I have heard mentioned, he would good do a great job in my opinion and get that program back where it should be in due time. Nobody is going to make them a powerhouse with what they got coming back.

I would definitely support Kidwell for the boy's job. He has done a great job with the girls' program and he has a lot of past experience coaching boys. If Russell is smart, they won't let him get away.

Coach Kidwell should get the job. He is an excellent coach and very respected with the Russell community. However he has done a nice job with the girls program so he could be in a situation that he may not want to leave. Honestly after seeing the boys play and the future, the girls may be the better choice. JMO!

What about Perry Yates?

I have had one source tell me that that Coach Dodd plus the entire staff were let go and "Resigns" may be the "politically correct" that they (Russell) are using.

If this is true will Dodd keep his teaching position with the school? Will his assistants remain with Russell?

 

Again, this is just what I have been hearing this morining and nothing definate. I am sure that there will be something come out in the Daily Independent in a day or two if there is anything to it and this is fact.

 

Good luck to Russell regardless of what is or isn't the case, it's about the kids and not the fans and/or parents. :thumb:

Rumor mill from the 9th Region concerning the open vacancy.

 

1st: Scott Humphrey (proven winner)

2nd: Tim Conway (should have never left)

3rd: Brock Walter (Great coach and has had family in the Russell school system that helped Ivan build the football program)

4th: Merle Kidwell (3 Regional Championship games in a row)

5th: Bill Bradley (Everyone knows that he can coach)

6th: Chris Barnes (Columbus isnt Ironton)

 

Can anyone confirm these rumors of candidates? Any would make a fine coach at one of the best schools in the state.
