Rose Hill has no power hitters, they should play small ball more. Conner Robinson is the best contact hitter that they have.

Martin is currently batting .523 on the season, that has to be tops in the area and Carver is easily hittin in the .400's. Also for the Rams Senior Matt Phillips is batting over .400 and Josh Wilson, a sophomore, bats in the 3 spot and is hitting in the high .300's maybe low .400's.

By the way, cvillecat would never say it but his senior year BA was .575 I beleive. One of if not THE best hitter to ever play at Raceland.

Martin in my opinion the best hitter in the entire area. And I agree RH should play more small ball there top three hitters have only struck out about twelve times all year so if the would bunt more i think the would score more runs.

I don't have the BA or the stat book but I have been told of two other current players in the 16th batting over 500.

:thumb: Thanks Springsteen. I have been around Raceland sports from the late 60's on. I started coaching youth sports (baseball and basketball) around 76-77' I think. The names that you mentioned sure brings back memories and you are certainly correct in that was a special group and they were very talented athletes.. I coached all but Trimble at one point or the other in youth sports. I also had R. Vanderhoof in his 8-9 yr. old group(I believe) in baseball. His brother helped coach that team. Cvillecat along with Trimble and Vandergriff were three of the very best hitters that I have seen at Raceland. There have been many other good ones as well but no one imo better than cvillecat. JMO and I was in no way slighting anyone.:thumb:

Most high school stats are bloated because they let the players keep the book. The way they see it, if you get on, it's a hit.

I can assure you the .575 avg. was not and I don't think that the ones that Springsteen mentioned were either. I saw that team play and witnessed a lot of it. I can certainly believe it.
