A state champion is a state champion and something to most definitely be proud of regardless of the number of classes. Had the pleasure of playing on two and know for a fact that we were the best team in the state of Kentucky in 1982.

When did the initial conversation between the coach and umpire occur? What was the "reputation" to which the umpire was referring? If it was me I would be contacting the district supervisor from which the umpire came to let them know what had occurred.

It appears that the tuition at NCC will need to be raised to cover the additional cost of not having a football field to play on.

Definitely a sad day for the entire Northern Kentucky baseball community. Had the pleasure of playing for Mo in knothole and he was definitely in it for all the right reasons. He will be missed.

The problem is parents need to quit meddling in their kids affairs when it comes to sports. Every parent nowadays thinks that their kid is the best player at every position and is getting cheated out of playing time. If a coach is willing to stand up for what he feels is right and the administration does not, then shame on them. The School Board is in the wrong here and nobody else. This problem just continues to get bigger and bigger every year and has even started to trickle into the little leagues. Parents need to be thankful that their kids are even getting a chance to play rather than complaining that Johnny is not batting leadoff and playing where he wants or bringing the ball up the court so he can shoot it.

I am with Sticky, what are we looking for. To me if someone did not play in a regular season professional game they should not be on this list.

I believe that Chuck Kyle from Highlands played in the NFL. Bob Dougherty from Bellevue played in the NFL. A Murray from Dayton played in the NFL. Bob Barton from Holmes played in MLB.

The use of the football field for soccer only occurs in the spring, so football is over. The use of that field comes at a pretty steep price if you ask me. The problem is that the recreation department does not worry about the upkeep/improvement of the baseball diamonds in the city. You cannot practice at Storrs field as someone suggested. Woodfill fields are used by Knothole teams. Rossford park has four fields which are probably the only ones used by the Junior Baseball League. Honestly, the way that Highland Park is configured (grass infield) does not make it conducive for little league softball/baseball. Perhaps a little more pressure needs to be put on Berger to improve the parks/baseball fields.

Highland Park and the field is in terrible shape. The city of Ft. Thomas should be embarrassed.

Go to the Boosters website and print off the schedule. It is more current than the one listed on the KHSAA website.

Highlands game yesterday was cancelled due to the weather.

I would rather they be good in all sports, both girls and boys. There are more than enough athletes in the halls at Highlands to be very good in each and every sport. I would like to see more of the two and three sport athletes rather than the football only. There are only so many scholarships to be given out and those that have gotten them at Highlands in recent years have been multiple sport athletes.

That is pretty much what I was trying to point out. They did not play as well as they are capable that is for sure. I would like nothing more than to be spending my Thursday afternoon at Rupp Arena.

Do happy thoughts win basketball games? Ask Willie if he was happy with the teams efforts on Tuesday. I do not care what they won by, I expected them to win. I just would have liked for them to play better in preparation for tonights game and the finals on Saturday.

In short, No. However I do think that this was the game that showed these kids that they did belong with the elite of the region. Hopefully Highlands does not play as poorly as they did against Ludlow.

The key to the game last night was the play of Chad Hudepohl and Tanner Johnson. Chad made four huge three's and of the games that I have seen this year, that was Tanner's best. He needs to stay on the floor for this team to win the region. Jeff Vories is still the straw that stirs the drink for this team. He did have an off night, but I think he had a lot to do with Beuter and Gesenhues running out of gas toward the end of the game.

According to my well informed source The games on Monday are NCC versus Conner and Holmes versus Dixie The Tuesday games are CovCath versus Ryle and Highlands versus Ludlow. Look for a semifinal matchup of Holmes versus Conner and Highlands versus CovCath.

I was just curious how things may or may not be going for the baseball team this year. How many kids are out? Are there any upper classman that are playing or is spring football again causing problems? Who are the coaches this year?

As stated earlier, the final score was 60-58 as Chad Hudepohl hit a half court shot at the buzzer. IMO Highlands played with little emotion last night which definitely was a factor in the game. Vories seems to wear down quite a bit as the game goes on because he has to work so hard to get the ball. The last two free throws that he shot were almost airballs because he had no legs left. The birds missed numerous easy baskets in the latter stages of the game and too many free throws once again. I have to believe that this was one of the better games that Boone has played all year. Highlands has been in every game that they have played this year and Willie will have them more than ready to answer the bell come tournament time.

Just because I knew that you would pick Goetz. Seriously, I believe that Highlands has played a pretty tough schedule of which only five were at home. Think this speaks volumes IMO.
