This is suprising news to me. Of course I am not close to the program or happenings in that district. Bellevue looked very good / well coached against Raceland in the playoffs last year.

If this is true then Its ridiculous..... can they not hire the right guy who is not going to smoke and mirror them? I played there for coach Swauger who was there over 20 yrs...... they have had 3 coaches in the last 4 yrs I think.....not to mention the turnover in football as well.

 

Who is doing the hiring down there? I didnt think their coach did a bad job with them this year.... things just arent like they used to be.

 

Those kids need someone who can step in and get their youth programs turned around and start from the bottom up. I wouldnt say it is a tough job it seems that a couple coaches (former NKU players) in the past few years were simply using it as a stepping stone.

Who were the past coaches?

 

I know Kevin Listerman & Shannon Minor were both coaches there. Was Shannon the most recent coach?

Maybe Ryan Schrand can throw his name into the mix and keep the Merry-Go-Round going over in Bellevue. He seems to be cut from the same mold as at least 2 of there last 3 coaches. I understand he may have some free time this coming winter.

The thought entered my mind as well; however, I don't think you'll see Ryan Schrand on a basketball bench this upcoming season. That is, unless you go watch the Better Bodies Men's League.

and then he will probably not be on the bench but playing..... he had some great game at NKU along with those other two mentioned.

 

If Schrand's name does pop up.... He should consider it as a possible 5-8 yr term and not a stepping stone. Or just not even throw his name in the hat. They don't need another coach like that.

Like it or not, Bellevue is a "stepping stone" job because of its small size. Why shouldn't a guy like Schrand take the job? If he's a good coach, he'll improve the program, win some games and draw some interest from bigger schools.

 

Would you rather have a coach that does that, or one that stays around because he doesn't have any other options?

Agree completely. Was going to put the same thing just couldn't think ofthe right way to put it.

 

If you do get a coach that sticks around they may have an occasional year here and there, but no sustained success.

From what I'm hearing a school member and someone from within the Boosters Club who has some influence and with a child on the team complained loud and hard that their child didn't get enough playing time. The Principal not wanting a Board Member and a Booster Club Officer on his tail caved in and now Bellevue is once again looking for a new coach. Very unfortunate because many felt Wolfzorn was a decent coach and someone who wanted to stay and wasn't looking to make it a stepping stone type of job as Listerman and Minor had done previously. Very unfortunate that these type of situations arise and all it hurts is the kids.
