Do you really think working on your goal line defense against a team you have dominated will help you get better? District games don't happen week #2 - if you want to be challenged - schedule better. I wouldn't do it.

I believe that school boards have in the past been fertile ground for people who care more about elevating their own interests above those of the school district.

I disagree with everyone who doesn't see an issue here. There are lots and lots and lots of local school board members who care way more about personal agendas than what is best for employees, students and the district at large. Personally I don't even like having elected school boards (I generally don't think having 5 - often times lacking any educational background - elected citizens have input into how professional educators run their "business" is not all that beneficial; however, I guess there needs to be some kind of oversight). Policies, procedures, rules... whatever you want to call it ... limiting the power of school board member is a very good thing.

Looking for the names of guys who should have been named, but because the process is so flawed they didn't get the award. Marty Moore from Highlands didn't win it and Marty was a beast in high school He was recruited by Alabama, but chose to stay home and go to UK. He had a great career at UK and then played in pros for New England and Cleveland; however, even as a loyal Bird fan it would be tough to argue Marty over Jeff Brohm. Can anybody think of any obvious misses?

Did he play RB in HS, but WR for UofL? Still struggling with being wrong. :jump:

Jeremy has been a part of this series on both sides for quite some time; however, can anyone remember when he was last on the winning side of a game at Tower Park. He has lost at Tower Park as Cov. Cath coach in 2012, 2014, and now 2016. Also going back on the KHSAA scoreboard it appears he was either lost or tied Cov. Cath going back at least a decade. Really odd. #curseoftheclosedgaragedoor

Not exactly; however.... There was another NKY team that played in a tourney, but couldn't play all their games, which left the home/host team to play an extra game. soccerfan000 can you name that team??? :banana:

The closed enrollment never seemed to impact Coach Fookes and the Boone County girls basketball program. :banana:

When I go to prepspin it doesn't list the Lex. Cath Tourney. Has it just not been updated yet?

I don't want to speak for Mexitucky, but back when Rodenburg was football coach at Cov. Cath. He referred to Highlands as "the team from Ft. Thomas". My guess is that he was just having a little fun.

In one of Dale's last few games at Highlands versus Cov. Cath. he had a chance to punch in an extra score against Cov. Cath. late in the game - he took a knee instead. Some people like to hold onto events that support their narrative, while ignoring those that don't lend support. The Cov. Cath. broadcast team might be a little guilty of this, but shhhhh ..... don't tell them - the way the color guy carries on is way too amusing. :jump:

Anyone know if the games from Lex. Cath's tourney will be streamed?

I am not blaming Cov. Cath. either. There is no reason they should consider NDA when they put their schedule together. They are two totally different institutions, two different student bodies, two different communities. I don't think there are two high schools in NKY that could be much different than these two.

The 5-4 1984 season was a particularly painful season. We weren't very good on the field and we lost a teammate in a car wreck, when a car driven by another teammate hit a pole. We had a game cancelled the week of his death, which is why we only played 9 games. In my mind it feels like the weather for that entire season was overcast, gloomy, and miserable.

Just so just to be clear, there is no conflict of interest if a Cov. Cath. staff member centers a regional girls semi final involving NDA; however, we should attempt to schedule games so the Cov. Cath. students and fans can attend a NDA game? Got it. :banana:

Matchup of two of the better teams in NKY last night. Anyone have any details?

That is true. There were seasons where they opened up on the Recreation Bowl (or maybe other bowls); however, there were many years where Dayton was the first game.

Don Willig, mentioned, in the article helped me get my first job. Great guy, who died just a few years ago. Highlands and Dayton were the season opener for each other through at least the late 80's.

I am all for extending grace for mistakes and poor decisions, but hitting an official should probably end ones high school athletic career.
