  1. I wondered the same earlier in season and when I looked it appeared like Ball State was having a good season and is one of several contenders to win their conference tourney (same situation he would have been in with us).
  2. I could be wrong, but last I saw they were leading. I guess I am guilty of helping Wright State since I was part of the 7,200. :jump:
  3. I was very content with finishing second until I realized the automatic NIT bid went to the conference regular season champ. Wonder what are chances (if any) are getting an NIT bid if we finish second?
  4. I know with NKU only being D-1 for a few years the scale is skewed recent, but is Lavone the best guard in NKU history? I think if I were drafting a team of all time NKU players, he would be my first pick among guards and likely my first pick overall. We will really miss that young man next year.
  5. NKU's attendance was solid. There is always room for growth, but it is clear that the Horizon League Championship/being NCAA eligible in their first year caused a lot of locals to embrace NKU like they have never before in their history. Really nice to see. NKU will finish the season at the top of the Horizon in attendance and among the leaders in mid-major attendance. It is amazing how many bullets NKU and the administration took over moving from DII, firing Dave Beezold, building the arena (and how they run it), etc. over the years. Like MJ said none of those appear to be aging well.
  6. If nku stays the #2 seed that is fine. They would be opposite Wright State and Oakland. I know Oakland lost their point guard and have been a bit inconsistent - I would rather be opposite Kendrick Nunn.
  7. I have thought about it. The 9 pm start time doesn't excite me. Will either go, go to Dickmans, or watch from couch. You going?
  8. He is a cross between Grayson Allen and Nick Ruthsatz in all the wrong ways. If you like the whole throwing your head back and exaggerating a foul at the slightest bit of contact... Benzinger is your guy.
  9. I have done it with a light KB. Problem is I do it so infrequently I never can remember the order of moves from time to time that I do it.
  10. I am not really sure I understand that Turkish get up. It feel like an unnecessarily complex activity/lift for not much in return.
  11. Yesterday I had one rep max on my thruster of 185. I believe I could have broke 200 pounds; however, I didn't want to risk failure and gives me room to increase next time. Felt good about that. Today looks like it could be long (at least for me) WOD: 2x 21-15-9 Alternating arm dumbbell snatches Knees to elbows Calories on the old assault bike
  12. Richard Dickman coached the team for sometime, then they switched to Chris Goodpaster (sp.), but I think he only did it for a year or two at most. Last couple of years Scott Venefron (sp.) has been the coach.
  13. Cov. Cath. has graduated some very talented swimmers the past few years, as well as, additional solid swimmers who provided depth. Their freshman and sophomore classes have both been weak. They will return their top 2 swimmers (both juniors), but they lose three other kids who all scored quite a few points.
  14. Highlands boys team won a regional title for the first time since 1994, beating Cov Cath. 508-381. Cov. Cath had won 19 straight with Scott being last team to beat them. Although we believed this day was on the horizon, it came one year before we really expected it. Overall it was a pretty special day for Birds. Event winners for Highlands: 50 and 100 Free: Garrison Herfel 200 Free: Brendan Conley 200 Free and 400 Free Relays won as well.
  15. I know very little about Castro, but I will say I really enjoy the Thursday night show where they reveal the workout and Castro's personality is a big part of it. It is like he is revealing our weekly punishment with an arrogant smile on his face the whole time.
  16. Given the workouts you are doing, it looks like Crossfit would be right in your sweet spot.
  17. I understand, but I do the open mainly for the community aspect of it. My wife does it, my daughter does it, so I want to be able to join in with them to talk about it. Not to mention everyone at the gym does it and then there is being part of the global event, which appeal to me. The burpee standard wasn't a big deal to me, because I never did them any other way, but I am sure Castro just made it more difficult for some people at my end of the foodchain. The dumbbell snatch standard won't impact me either (I was switching hands mid chest on way back to floor anyway).
  18. Thanks. When I walk in the box, I am not good at much, so I have to be happy when I have a little success. I have 5 years until I turn 55 and then the scaled workouts in the open get quite a bit easier for me.
  19. My workout yesterday (or today for that matter) was nothing special; however, I did up my one rep max on a squat clean to 225. That was a lot of weight for me and I was pleased.
  20. Not many places to recover a bit in that one. You have to move a little to get 12 calories on the bike per minute.
  21. Adheke reclassified from the 2016 to the 2017 class and signed with the University of Evansville (chose Evansville over Kansas State, Southern Illinois, and Missouri State). He redshirted his frosh year at Evansville and asked for his release from program in June 2017. Playing this year with Eastern Florida State juco. Adheke is 6-9 235 power forward who is supposed to be extremely athletic with a 32 inch vertical and a 7-1 wingspan. Maybe a bit of project; however, perhaps, he can at least guard Loudon Love the next three years. :jump: He joins 6-4 PG Mercer County product Trevon Faulkner and 6-5 shooting guard Bryant Mocaby from Kansas.
  22. Kentucky used to have a program called KAPT (I guess technically they still do, but it has been closed to new enrollees since about 2004). I bought 4 year contracts for my oldest 2. I paid installments until they graduated HS and it allowed you to buy future college credits in today's dollars based upon the cost highest public tuition in the state (always UK). These turned out to be incredible purchases. I guess they were so good, the state has never opened the program again . I had to cover room and board for my two oldest, but my oldest had quite a bit of scholarship money (athletic and academic) and my youngest has lived at home so far. Challenge will be getting my youngest through, but we have quite a bit saved for him. If parents are aggressive in their planning/saving and kids go to an in state public school, it is possible to get them out with little to no debt. It isn't easy, but is possible.
