6A football IS treated differently than every other division and every other sport. When you disregard geography to put 3 of the top teams in the state in the same district and then flip that district from one side of the bracket to the other annually, there is little argument that 6A is being treated differently than every other class of football and every other sport.

Why are the football playoffs in a constant state of change? Other sports have realignment occasionally, but the football playoffs have seemed like they were a work in progress for the last 15 years or so.

Heard there was also some controversy in the boys diving championship. Anyone want to chime in and give the details? :jump:

Individually you can swim 4 events, but no more than 2 events can be relays. The 400 free relay is the last relay of a HS meet. For each relay, before the meet starts, you can list 8 swimmers on a card and then prior to the event you have to designate which 4 will swim and in what order. The NDA coaching staff made an error in who they designated as they listed a kid who had already swam 2 relays and 2 individual events. Therefore, the relay was disqualified. Tough break for the NDA girls. Not sure if they could have beat Sacred Heart, but they would have firmly finished second. The only thing that made it not quite as bad was that each of the girls who would have been on that relay had a very successful meet individually and on other relays. Just an honest unfortunate mistake.

He has coached at Kings - various age groups. His daughter and son both played for Campbell County. Z89: You won't like him.

Read on the internet (so it must be true ) Fran Szovati is new head coach at St. Henry. From my experience Fran is a good guy, knows the game, and I think the Crusader girls will enjoy playing for him.

So based upon who they lost they will not be as good as last year. Based upon your argument I would say that high school sports (all high school sports) are all just on one long negative trajectory, because every year you lose players who the previous year were better than those returning. Makes perfect sense. :banana:

I haven't cleared telling this story with any of the parties, but given the beauty of the story, I think it will be OK to tell... Olivia Crigler a freshman guard for Holy Cross, who I might add had an outstanding game against Highlands is the granddaughter of Paul and Connie Dickman (for the Cov. Cath folks - I believe Paul is Richard's uncle. Connie is battling Lou Gerhig's disease and lives in south Florida. Connie was an elementary teacher in Ft. Thomas who took a particular interest and formed a relationship with Jamie Walz as a child. They had not been in touch for a long time 20+ years); however, Connie always followed Jamie's career both as a player and coach and obviously felt a lot of pride for Jamie's accomplishments. Last summer after hearing of Connie's illness Jamie got back in touch with Connie and they have been corresponding regularly. This has led to the Walz family and the Dickman's connecting several times over the past year including Jamie going down in the fall and spending a weekend with the Dickmans and Coach Roger Walz and his wife, Jann hosting the Dickmans when the UofL women played in South Florida a few months back. It has been a beautiful story as two families have had some great interaction amongst an awful backdrop/situation.

You couldn't find Pete Mitchell with a search party. I suppose the Pendleton County boys might have been in action, which could explain it. :lol:

Zac is an excellent athlete and he has a dad who knows the game and how to teach it. Makes for a good combination developmentally.

I listened to the start of the Cov. Cath radio broadcast of the game. Not real far into the game after a foul by Highlands, Rich Maile made the comment: "We are going to call like we see it". Reminded me of the exchange between Lorne Michaels and Rudolph Giuliani right after 9/11 when Michaels asks "can we be funny?" and Guiliani responds "why start now". :banana:

History doesn't support that conclusion. Maybe you should be asking if we didn't play in a middle school league maybe we wouldn't print t-shirts when we make the playoffs. :banana:

Given you were talking about a kid currently in 9th grade and "reclassifying" to play with his 8th grade friends, I thought is was clear what we were talking about. I guess it wasn't.

There is no such thing as reclassifying in high school sports. He will have the next 3 years to complete his high school eligibility regardless of his current age.

Honestly I think this post is crap. Maybe UKMAN would like some honestly in regards to his critique of a 15 year old sophomore boy playing JV. :banana: I haven't seen Jake play, but I know the stereotypical play I would expect from an almost 7 foot sophomore boy. More than likely the kid needs more grace and encouragement until he develops into his body than he does dads and the parents of his peers critiquing what his play should and shouldn't be at this point. I know that is probably tough when the adults have it all figured out. If that is sugar coating things, so be it. Consider me in the corner of the kid.

He had a page full of scratchings on a legal pad. I asked him how long it would take him to write an article from those notes. He told me about 2 hours. I was surprised it takes him that long.
