  1. Until the past three years I thought X had the edge in talent. A strong edge in 09. In 11, Trinity had big edge. Last year, other than Quick, Hatcher and White it may have been close. It is hard to evaluate. How good would some of the X quarerbacks have been if they had been coached by Beatty, Coverdale and Brohm? We'll never know, but I suspect that at least a couple of them would have been very good.
  2. When I take a look at the long term health of the Trinity vs X rivalry, I know that domination by one side or the other isn't good. Frustration has lead to some ugly incidents from some of the X side and their lack of support for their team, especially in the second half of games is not good. So in my head, I know that it is good for X to take a turn at the top every now and then. My problem is that I never want it to be this year. Some other year would be better. So once again I will want the 'Rocks to beat the suffing out of X.
  3. I am struck by the "just a practice" attitude. You play the way you practce, so I expect both of these teams to go all out, just like every other day at practice.
  4. Athlon sports has put out a list of ten of the nations top coaches. It makes a good read. Top 10 High School Football Coaches in America | AthlonSports.com
  5. Any reports from the Green - White scrimmage?
  6. A link to the article: USA Today ranks Trinity's football team preseason No. 2 in the nation
  7. Um, have you been reading this stuff? I remember one post that listed the X-men's hardest games as BG, Cincy X, Moeller and then close between Trinity and Central. I'm surprised they didn't put Fairdale ahead of us. As far as who should be ranked first, I don't care. To quote the great Dennis Lampley, "Let them run their mouths, we'll run the field".
  8. Um, I think you might want to check your math. Twelve plus one equals thirteen, not fifteen. X has twelve titles, as in ten fewer tham Trinity or Highlands.
  9. My suggestion would be that if they manage to break the ribs of the other teams best player, the players and fans not cheer the injury. It tends to strengthen the resolve of the other team and reflects poorly on the team in green and yellow.
  10. Will Wolford, no question. The powers on Poplar Level are so sick of playing second fiddle that they were willing to push a legend out of the 31st story window. They will look pretty foolish if they don't win. Adding to the pressure is the perception that Coach Wolford, at the very least, opened the window for the pushers. Yeah, that's pressure.
  11. Yes, I think the crowd will be up this year. The past couple of years quite a few of the X fans have come disguised as empty seats. Even those that didn't wear their disguises in the first half changed into them in the second half. This year, with Vince Woody Ara Don Wolford as coach and the finest collection of athletes ever assembled in the free world, I expect the X fans to show up. The Trinity folks will always be there.
  12. Coach, where do you see your team next year? What are your goals? Last year, when the playoffs started I expected to see you in the finals. Is that a realistic goal for this year?
  13. I don't think that you fellas from Cincy X know just how good Lou X will be next year. From what I hear they hired some guy named Vince Bo Bear Woody Wolford as their new coach. They will be so good next year that they won't even have to use players. The other team will look accross the field and see that coach and just forfeit on the spot.
  14. Well, let me tell you how I interpret what you have said. I interpret it as you don't believe that X puts the best players on the court and that you don't believe that X wants to have too many black kids on the court at the same time. I don't believe it. I am quite willing to believe the worst about X, but that is too much for me to believe. From the chanting I heard from the X students last year and the lack of efforts from the X administration to stop it, I can believe that X is not the most pleasant place for minorities, but I still can't believe what I took from youir posts.
  15. I may have to shower and then go confess my sins after I come to the defense of X, but I don't buy what AT is selling. His initial post implied race and a reluctance to put more than one black player on the court at a time. I can't imagine anyone at X, coach, teacher or administrator that would ever think such a thing, let alone do it. His later posts try to soften that to a general inability to select the right players for the team. Fans always know someone that should have been selected before the player the coach selected. In general, I'll trust the coaches.
  16. Are you implying that X doesn't put the best team on the floor? Are you implying that playing time at X is based on race? There is not much that I like about X, but even I don't believe that. And by the way, there is much X could learn from Trinity.
  17. I'm not sure that X beat a good team the rest of the way after the upset of Trinity.
  18. For Coach Beatty: 2000 state runner-up 2001 state champ 2002 state champ 2003 state champ 2004 out in 2nd round to Dixie Heights 2005 state champ 2006 state champ 2007 state champ 2008 state champ 2009 state runner-up 2010 state champ 2011 state and national champ 2012 state champ
  19. I can understand Elder and Cincy X. They need wins for their playoff system. They want the best team they can beat. Louisville X stays on the schedule. Trinity goes off. I have confidence that Coach Lampley will get us a good schedule.
  20. As I understand what happened, kids that had taken the placement exam at HC and had registered at HC, were allowed to participate on the powerlifting team. Since powerlifting is not a KHSAA sport, I would have thought it was okay. Since it is against the rules, the punishment seems fair. I also note that HC was cooperative with the investigation.
  21. Interesting that they are 1-3 since the win over Trinity. The lone win was by 9 over Waggener.
  22. This team plays defense like their lives depend on it. It was 29-2 after one quarter. Coach cleared the bench and went to a zone instead of the pressure man. Slowed things down but they still pitched a shutout in 4th. Hicks was there but still not in uniform. The thing that should scare folks is that the threes are starting to fall. That was the missing ingredient early this year.
  23. See No 8. That would be the one before No 9.
