  1. I know that everyone understands that Coach Beatty is a great coach in terms of his knowledge of the game. I think he is very underrated as a motivator and psychologist.
  2. By effort, I don't mean effort by just the kids. I don't doubt that the effort is there from the kids at a lot of places. I mean the total package, kids, coaches, administration and fans.
  3. You may reply with exasperation, but results are results. X has at least the resources of Trinity, a slightly larger number of students and lesser results. That means a less effective implementation. It has been the same story for much of the last 47 seasons. It has been more pronounced over the past fifteen seasons, but it goes back a long way.
  4. All of the back and forth is irrelevant. Size is a necessary but not sufficient criterion for winning 6A. Kentucky does not have many schools that put the kind of effort into football that Trinity does. I can only think of one other school. They dominate the small school titles the way Trinity does the big school titles.
  5. Uh, even if X had recovered the onside kick, they still would have needed a touchdown. They didn't manage one in the first 46 minutes of the game.
  6. Including his four years as a student, Gene spent fifty years at Trinity. My son described him as the best teacher he ever had. Even after he retired, he continued to work the ticket booth at home games. Always with his ever present smile. RIP.
  7. With a tip of the hat to Mr. Gene Eckert, I beieve the lads will bring home number 23.
  8. But if you buy them at school, the school gets $0.50. Every little bit helps.
  9. $11.00. It is sort of funny to read all of these posts. I predict a Trinity win, but DH will make a strong showing. One point is enough for me.
  10. And Presentation opened in 1831. www.presentationacademy.org ? History
  11. We can all spend the winter arguing about the relative merits of our favorite team. At this point in the season only two teams matter in each class.
  12. I think people are getting way ahead X and H are irrelevant at this point. DH has earned the right to be here and should be respected for what they have accomplished and may yet accomplish. I have made no secret that I think that a weak schedule is a disadvantage for DH. That doesn't mean it can't be overcome. Trinity will prepare for this game as if they are playing for the title against the best opponent available in all of Kentucky. They are.
  13. No, it's a lot worse than that. It gnaws at them. I love it.
  14. Don't doubt that they have. Coach Jackson of Ballard commented about DH that it is one thing to see them and quite another to play them. That is kind of my point. I don't think that there is anything DH can do that Trinity hasn't seen done just as well or better by one of the teams they played this year. The weak DH schedule doesn't let them say the same thing. That doesn't mean DH can't win, but it does make it harder.
  15. The team that year never seemed to gel. I'm not the one that has been running them down. They were a good football team that never seemed to develop their own identity. After you have a really strong group ( I.e the Brohm team 01-03 or the Quick, Dawkins, Wright, White, Hatcher group) I think that the next class has a little trouble developing leaders. Just a theory. At any rate, this years team has developed strong leaders and has gotten better as the season progressed. I really like this team. It feels like a championship team and I've seen all 22.
  16. Don't know. That's why I'm not the coach. Maybe run the wild rock away from the rushers. Maybe run quick slants. Maybe run quick screens. Maybe run all three. My point is that the coaches have seen it this year and will have a plan. The DH coaches will see what Trinity does on film, but won't have seen it live. They may come up with a game plan to stop Trinity, but I think it is easier if you have played against it before. DH has to be good or they wouldn't be here, but Trinity is hard to handle if you haven't seen it in action.
  17. The "secret sauce" for Trinity is the willingness and ability to prepare. I don't doubt the DH willingness to prepare. I do question their ability. I say that not to disparage the coaches, but rather what they have learned from a weak schedule. If you haven't experienced how your team reacts to different situations, you may come up with a winning game plan, but it is a lot harder. There is very little that DH can do that Trinity hasn't seen. There will be a lot more guesswork involved for the DH staff. They may guess right, but don't count on it. Rocks by 20.
  18. When you get to this point in the playoffs, anybody can beat anybody. By definition you are playing well. I expect Trinity to win, but the surest way to make that happen is for the coaches and players to remember that it is not a given. We have one thing we can unite around. We'll both be cheering "Go Big Green". We may change ours to "Go Real Big Green".
  19. Interesting that the lowest rated team in 6A is rated higher than 19 of the 20 teams from the other classes.
