Trinity 61 St. Xavier 51
Trinity alum replied to THS2011's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
It was more than fair. You couldn't drive into the lane against X without being fouled. Watching X play basketball is like watching paint dry. I think it gave them their best chance to win, but oh my it is bad to watch. They are a very good rebounding team. They need to either hope they can alter shots to create a lot of rebound opportunities, or hope that the other team will miss their free throws. Trinity was too much for X to alter the shots without fouling. Trinity was also good at the line. Thus the outcome. -

If you include 1976 to2016 it is 41 years. Still more than half. I think Trinity has made around 25 in that span.

Trinity 56 Lafayette 21 - 6A State Championship

Actually it looks like a textbook heads up tackle. I have finally had a chance to watch the broadcast. I think the officials made a tough situation worse with some really bad calls. But regardless of who you think started it, never retaliate. -
Anyone that remembers Flaget knows that it wasn't an everybody gets a trophy kind of place.

There is never a lot of point in discussing who started it. I'll just say that I am not happy with the way our kids handled it. With all of the talk of bad actions, let me point out a good one. After the game, Spencer Blackburn went over to speak to Wood. Nice job. -
He arrived in 1999 with Coach Wright, but he had a period of three or four years in the middle where he left to be a head coach in Indiana.

Trinity/Lafayette 6A Predictions
Trinity alum replied to UK#1fanisback's topic in KY Football (High School)
I don't know if Lafayette will make a game of it, but I do know that Trinity is no more of a favorite than Louisville was. Wood gives them a chance on offense. Emotion can go a long way on defense. I expect Trinity to play a very sharp game and win. -
I've known some of the assistant coaches over the years and have developed a theory. First, it is a lot of hard work. Second, the assistant coaches are very good. I don't know if there is a better OC in high school ball anywhere than Andrew Coverdale. Perhaps the most important factor is that Coach Beatty is able to convince teenage boys and middle aged coaches to put in all of that work. His ability as a long term motivator, as opposed to a rah, rah up for the big game motivator may be the biggest factor. With all of the success, a lot of very good ball players now want to come to Trinity. Obviously that helps, but he has beaten more talented teams. There is also the support of the school administration and the entire school family. That is also a big deal. Over the past fifty years Trinity has been this states best program. Coach Beatty has made it even better.

I think they are vulnerable to a very strong passing game. I think it is harder to do than that sounds. Look at the first X interception. Ridder was being chased and throwing off balance. To have a strong passing game the team will have to protect the quarterback. That is the problem. If I were scouting Trinity, I would forget runs up the middle, there is nothing there. Designed runs to the outside are also very tough. A run/pass option wide is possible with a quarterback like Ridder, but the problem is stringing together seven or eight plays to get a drive. The other very real problem is that most teams will need to score on almost every possession if they plan to beat Trinity, because Trinity will score on most possessions. I thought the Trinity QB was a little hard on himself in the paper, but there were a few drives stopped by self inflicted wounds. It is tough to count on that. In short, if I am scouting Trinity, I'd start with a couple of Tylenol and a couple of shots of Jim Beam. Then I'd pull out every trick play, fake punt and onside kick I could think of and hope for the best.

Any update on Ridder's condition? I hope the knee injury is not serious.

Trinity will score a lot of points. Lafayette will score more than seven, but not enough. -
I thought it would be close and it was. I thought Trinity relaxed a little early at 24-7, but win and advance.

It isn't a jab. It's an excuse. If I ran a Hall of Fame coach off and then didn't do as well, I'd be looking for an excuse too. -

None of my employees get Medicaid. Since the vast majority of people get private insurance through employers, keeping the lid on prices for employer based plans is good for the country. If it was bad for your company, I'm sorry but I believe that it was good for most people and most companies. Most of the business people I talk to think they must be the exception since it didn't hurt them. After all, they hear a lot more from the naysayers.

I only worship one God. Insane??? Verdict is still out, but don't ask my wife. She's biased. I do run a business. Prior to the ACA our premiums were going up by double digits every year. Since the ACA they have been flat. That is a fact. It has added thousands to the bottom line of my business. It means that no employee of mine has seen an increase of one cent in their healthcare cost. I may be crazy, but I am right about the ACA. It has been good for the country. Is health insurance still too costly for some? Absolutely. Don't let perfect be the enemy of good. Make the good better.

I would hope they do better. I think this is the best chance X has had since 09. -
The insurance premiums at my company stayed flat since the ACA was implemented. Business has been great. I have been able to give all of my employees substantial raises. Far fewer American service people have died in wars. LGBT people are out of the shadows. All in all, a great eight year run. I hope the incoming administration does as well.
