  1. Actually, after a very long delay, they did play the fourth quartet. 40-14 final
  2. I have only one objection to legalization - I don't want kids smoking or drinking. Kid brains are still forming and need to postpone use until they are better able to handle it. Think about people you know with drug or alcohol problems. If you are like me, you don't know many problem users that didn't start in high school. Legalization would save law enforcement a lot of time, trouble and money.
  3. Since those may be terms of art I won't answer directly. They have many kids with documented learning and physical disabilities. I'm not sure what an EBD is so I can't answer that. As far as "is there a requirement to get into Trinity", again, I'm not sure what you mean. There is no minimum score on the placement exam for admission.
  4. Anyone that knows me knows that my ability to go on and on about Trinity High School knows no bounds. The article linked below is from the latest edition of the National Catholic Education Foundation Magazine "Momentum". There are a lot of things I can brag about concerning Trinity, but the topics covered in this article are at the top of the list. http://www.trinityrocks.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/July-2017-Momentum-Article.pdf
  5. Don't feel too bad. I haven't seen anybody handle him in practice either.
  6. I was only at the freshman part and it is hard to tell much so far. The freshman portion of the scrimmage was a serious physical mismatch. Ryle didn't have anyone to cope with Trinity's speed. The complexity of Trinity's formations and schemes also seemed to bother them. They will learn a lot more as time goes on. As Trinity substituted and the physical mismatch lessened, Ryle was faced with tired players facing eager and fresh players. We'll know a lot more after the next couple of weeks.
  7. Where is the Ryle practice field? I'll have one passenger in a wheel chair and would like to be able to park close by.
  8. Well, there you go again. There were only two held during his time in office. For one, he sent a taped message and I believe Mrs. Obama went to the second. By the way, as outlined in an earlier post, many Presidents have missed.
  9. We are getting exactly what we voted for. In my opinion, it was a mistake, but we live with the mistake.
  10. I may not like it, but someone has to decide. Right now, for most of us it is an insurance company. For others it is the government. As a practical matter, either someone decides in accordance with strict written guidelines or contract language or else we all pay. If a family wishes to continue "treatment" for a brain dead (lay term) relative, that's okay, but I don't think they can expect everyone else to pay.
  11. I am no fan of the government intruding into these situations. In my opinion, the British government should not have intruded into the parents' desire to seek treatment outside Britain. On the other hand, it was appropriate , in these extreme circumstances, to refuse to pay for it. I felt the same way during the Teri Shiavo(sp?) situation a few years ago. The only government intervention should have been for the courts to rule on which family member had the right to make the call.
  12. We knew what he was when we elected him. I didn't like it then and I don't like it now. I plan to live with it for three and a half years and hope for the best. As a parent of two eagle scouts I find it very offensive, but it is no different from what he has been doing for as long as he has been in the public eye.
  13. I keep hearing that there is "no evidence". He told the FBI director that he "hoped" he could let the Flynn matter go. He received no response and a week later fired Comey. Let's try a slightly different situation. A boss says to an employee, "I wish you'd sleep with me". He receives no response and a week later he fires the employee. The two events may not be related, but I wouldn't bet that way.
  14. I'm guessing that those that know aren't saying, and those that are saying don't know. I don't think any of us will be sure until they make the announcement. In the past, the Trinity administration has been against trips that would cause the kids to miss school. If they can't get a game, I suppose they might have to reconsider.
  15. I think the news on NBC, CBS or ABC is fine, On MSNBC, CNN or Fox it is mostly opinion pieces. Of course it reflects a bias. The reason the coverage of President Trump sounds so negative is that they keep showing him on camera. That makes it look like they are being negative.
  16. Right to work is a race to the bottom. If my employees want to form a union I'll buy the donuts for the meeting.
  17. Big difference was that Trinity absolutely refused to let the X inside guys push them around. Without being able to push people around X didn't have anything else. Kiesler would try to back people down for easy shots. Last night the defense didn't move so he had to either pass back out or take a bad shot.
  18. I think it would help if we could all start with one assumption. The other side wants what is best for the country just as much as we do. The other side loves the country just as much as we do. The other side is as well intentioned as we are. Even if you have trouble believing it, act and talk as if you believe it anyway. You will be surprised how much better you get along with people.
  19. When I read this I think of Mitch. Smile, pledge to cooperate where you can and then do all you can to take him out, regardless of whether it is good for the country. It was good politics and made Mitch majority leader. If that was more important than good policy, then Mitch is a smart guy. If the good of the country was more important, then not so much. I hope that the democrats won't learn the McConnell lesson of the last eight years. I hope they will work with the new president where they can, and oppose him when they can't. And I hope they will keep the good of the people foremost in their minds.
  20. You are right, it does. Those of us who lived through those days know who he is. I don't think most people have any idea how things were. I think most people look at the civil rights era in much the same way they view WWII - just something in a history book. I grew up in a lily white suburb, but the nuns made sure we were well informed of what was going on, even if there was no chance we could really understand it. They painted civil rights as the moral imperative that it was and is. The priests took the same attitude.
