Trinity High School Announces its 2013 Football Schedule

 

 

Trinity High School, the defending Kentucky Class 6-A football champion, announced its 2013 varsity football schedule. The schedule features games against five 2012 state championship teams; opponents come from five states.

 

Trinity’s recent schedules have been ranked as some of the toughest in the country. This schedule continues that trend. The season kicks off with the annual scrimmage against Fort Thomas Highlands High School (Kentucky Class 5-A state champs).

 

The schedule includes the annual rivalry game against cross-town foe St. Xavier High School. A record crowd of nearly 40,000 is expected for the Oct. 4 showdown.

 

Familiar opponents include Cathedral High School (2012 Indiana state champs) and Archbishop Moeller High School (2012 Ohio state champs). Both of these games will be played at Trinity.

 

New opponents for 2013 are: Nashville’s Ensworth High School (2012 state champions), Indianapolis Lawrence Central High School (2012 state champions), Carmel High School from Carmel, Ind. (coached by former Trinity head coach Kevin Wright), Colerain High School from Cincinnati and Marist High School from Chicago, Ill.

 

Along with St. Xavier, other district opponents are DuPont Manual High School and Louisville Male High School. This district is considered to be the most competitive in Kentucky.

 

Head coach Bob Beatty remarked; “To be considered the best you must play the best. This is as tough a schedule as anyone will play in the country. Our student-athletes will learn lessons about hard work, teamwork, discipline, winning and losing. These lessons are the reasons we have sports as part of the total school mission.”

 

Athletic Director Dennis Lampley stated “This schedule shows our confidence in the coaching staff and student-athletes. I know that our fans will support the team throughout the entire season, regardless the score at the end of a game. There are big lessons we are teaching through sports. This schedule helps impart those lessons.”

 

The Shamrocks will play this season on their stadium’s new artificial surface, which was installed this past winter. The new surface features the latest advances in turf technology that aim to reduce injuries and increase performance.

 

Ten-game schedules for both the freshman and junior varsity squads are nearing completion.

 

Trinity also announced that it is partnering with Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, Nev., to schedule a two-year home and home series that would begin in 2014 or 2015.

Trinity's kids will remember these games for the rest of their lives.

I am just curious as to how the kids will fare against this level of competition week in and week out. The last two years with only 1 loss was amazing against a similar schedule but we had some once in a lifetime talent walking the halls then. Is it possible the Rocks may be 5-5 heading into the playoffs?

I honestly think, as in most years, what ever our OLine does, is how we do.

That is a very good point. 2011 wouldn't have been nearly as impressive if our boys hadn't been so tough up front.

We were 6-4 that year heading into the playoffs, but that schedule wasn't close to this one.

I love this concept. It is what I've be preaching for years,In order to be the best, you have to face the best. Why can't the rest of the State realize this the formula to win state & have a shot at becoming a national power.

Two things can happen with this......I mean, let's be realistic....who is going to win State next year? X or T right? We play them early. We may be better, they may be better. The one thing that is in our control, is that we'll have played much better competition, along the way, when we play the second time. I'll take those odds.
