  1. I'm not sure how much you can tell from 7 on 7, but the DBs were playing much tighter than last year. They also lost a couple of receivers. Too many dropped passes, some missed receivers, but all in all, not bad.
  2. Kids start school little later than they did 50 years ago, so I think the rule is fine the way it is.
  3. With much to be humble about.
  4. From your keyboard to God's ear. X would be favored even if both teams had all pitching available, but Trinity doesn't. Still, they have been palying well so you never know. Go Rocks!
  5. Having watched Trinity for over 50 years, my guess is that we'll never see another period of domination like what we have seen in the past 13 years. Trinity will continue to be the state's top big school program, as it has for the past 45 years, but others will close the gap. As it has for most of the past 45 years, X will continue to be the big school number 2. Positions 3 through 5 will be a revolving door, most of the time including Male and Scott County.
  6. As I recall I think that Ivory started on Gilbert, then they tried Ramser for a while. Neither could do much with him. Stafford didn't stop him, but I thought he slowed him down a little. Regarding the free throws, Louisville Catholic Sports is reporting that Stafford played with an injured wrist on his shooting hand. That might explain the free throws. Regardless, congratulations to SC and Cov Cath. I saw Trinity play quite a few times this season. They played their best ball at the end of the season. You can't ask for more. Thanks guys for a lot of good memories, enjoyable moments and the promise of more to come in the future.
  7. One of the things I really like about this team is that when everyone is really playing hard, Trinity doesn't have to pack it in to defend the middle. Everyone can play really tight and count on Spalding to erase any errors.
  8. That's what it sounded like to me. In that case, why force it?
  9. It should be a fun time at Rupp. My question about this team all year was whether they had the mental toughness of the 2012 team. Last night they did. If they keep that up I like our chances. The 2012 run started with a come from behind win over Ballard. Let's hope history repeats.
  10. I wasn't at last nights game so I can't comment, but in the games I've seen Trinity goes inside when it is open but doesn't force it. It sounds to me like Ballard was determined to not let Spaulding beat them. Okay, he didn't, the other guys did.
  11. I was following Jason Frakes and Joey Porter on twitter and BGP on the computer. Almost wore out my computer and my phone. I hated to miss a great game. Conrats Rocks.
  12. There is not a single public school kid on the Trinity team. Every kid on the team, every kid in the school is a Trinty kid.
  13. Not to mention icing down his jaw muscles.
  14. It is nice that the one Coach the CJ found it necessary to interview was Coach Beatty.
  15. Is the "he" you are refering to Coach Beatty? Unclear antecedent. If you are refering to Coach Beatty, he has won several titles when I believe there were other schools with more talent. What the record shows is that with lesser talent he will contend for the state title. With good talent he will win the state title. With great talent he will win the national title.
  16. Bob is about 58 or 59. He graduated from school in 78. Not too late to answer a new challenge. I hope he stays at Trinity, but he has earned the right to do as he wishes with the thanks and blessings of all at Trinity.
  17. If you accept the premise that participation in sports is good for the development of kids, (and if they aren't then they have no place in schools) then participation should be encouraged for as many kids as possible. At my grandkids' school they just keep forming teams until they run out of kids. I don't know if there are minimum playing time requirements in basketball, but all of the kids play. I think they have five 5th and 6th grade boys basketball teams. They play in A, B and C leagues. The CSAA in Louisville runs a great sports program. At the high school level, wherever it is feasible, Trinity sports are no cut. There are no cut sports available in all seasons. If you are willing to do the work, you are part of the team. Again, if team sports are good for kids, they should be available to all kids.
  18. It is good for 6A football that we have a year with no Louisville teams in the big school title game. As I've said many times before, it is good for someone other than Trinity to win the title. I always add, just not this year. Well, it is this year. We'll be back. I'm making my plans for next year in Bowling Green.
  19. Because they areJCPS. It is what they do. Most of them won't even allow radio.
  20. I find that hard to believe, but if true, he should be gone. I also have some questions about the administrators that allowed boosters to fire Mike Glaser and dictate the new coaching staff. Not their finest moment.
  21. Has there been any discussion at Tigertown about Coach Wolford refusing to speak to the press after the game? That was a little surprising considering that he has dealt with much more aggressive press in college and the NFL.
  22. This will be an interesting game. Trinity's offense may have had their worst game of this season against Male and still managed to stay within ten points. I expect Trinity's incomparable brain trust to have a great game plan. There were a few things in the last game that might provide a little motivation, but I suspect that moving on will be all the motivation that is needed. I don't expect "we will rock you" from the PA and I expect that if the teams want to shake hands after the game the students won't be an issue. Make it Trinity 35, Male 24.
  23. Game at7:30. Parking is tight. Expect a full house.
  24. This will be another close one but look for a ten point Trinity win.
